Beyond The Beltway
''Beyond the Beltway'' was a nationally syndicated radio political talk show based in Chicago that debuted on WBEZ 91.5 FM on June 26, 1980, as ''Inside Politics''. It was airing on Sundays on 14 terrestrial radio stations as well as online at beyondthebeltway.com and on the show's YouTube channel and Facebook page when it ended production in January 2025. In February 2015, ''Beyond the Beltway'' was removed from the lineup of Chicago's 50,000-watt WLS 890 AM, the show's flagship station since November 1992, and picked up by WCGO 1590 AM, a 10,000-watt station based out of Evanston, Illinois. In July 2021, WIND 560 AM, a 5,000-watt station headquartered in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, became the show's newest flagship station (although ''Beltway'' didn't air until 10 PM CST on WIND despite being recorded live four hours earlier) after WCGO dropped ''Beltway'' from its schedule. WIND (560 Hertz, kHz) is a commercial radio, commercial AM broadcasting, AM radio station city of license, licensed to Chicago, Chicago, Illinois, and broadcasting a conservative talk radio format. It is owned by the Salem Media Group with studios on NW Point Boulevard in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, Elk Grove Village. WIND transmits with 5,000 watts, using a directional antenna with a four-tower array, in Griffith, Indiana, near the Little Calumet River. Due to its location near the bottom of the AM dial, transmitter power, and the surrounding region's flat land, WIND's daytime signal covers much of Northeast Illinois, Northwest Indiana and Southeastern Wisconsin. WYCC (channel 20) was a public television station in Chicago, Illinois, United States. It was last owned by not-for-profit broadcasting entity Window to the World Communications, Inc., alongside PBS member station WTTW (channel 11) and classical music radio station WFMT (98.7 FM). WYCC's operations were housed with WTTW and WFMT in the Renée Crown Public Media Center, located at 5400 North Saint Louis Avenue (adjacent to the main campus of Northeastern Illinois University) in the city's North Park neighborhood; WYCC and WTTW shared transmitter facilities atop the Willis Tower on South Wacker Drive in the Chicago Loop. Salem Radio Network is a United States–based radio network that specializes in syndicated Christian political talk, music, and conservative secular news/talk programming. It is a division of the Salem Media Group. Network information Salem Radio Network was launched in 2009, and operates on mostly four radio formats: Christian talk and teaching (transmitted on AM in some areas and on FM in others), Contemporary Christian music (transmitted mostly on FM stations), conservative News/Talk format (transmitted on AM stations), and Christian Teaching (transmitted on AM stations). Total Living Network (TLN) is a religious broadcasting channel based in Aurora, Illinois. TLN operates two feeds, one for the Chicago metropolitan area and carried mainly on Comcast/Xfinity digital cable systems in that area with a schedule customized for the Central Time Zone, and the other ("TLN West") for the Western United States with a limited number of terrestrial over-the-air affiliates and customized for the Pacific Time Zone.
