Beyond This Place (2010 Film)
''Beyond This Place'' is a 2010 documentary film directed by Kaleo La Belle, screened at a number of film festivals. In it, La Belle reunites with his biological father Cloud Rock La Belle, a charismatic figure who was largely absent from his life. The film deals, in a personal and intimate way, with issues of parenting, issues of freedom versus responsibility, and with the aging of the 60's generation. The film won an award for Best Documentary over 60 minutes at the 2010 Krakow Film Festival and the "Prix création" award at the 2010 Visions du Réel film festival. Visions Du Réel
Visions du Réel (Visions of Reality) is an internationally renowned documentary film festival held in April each year in Nyon, Switzerland. Established in 1969 as the Nyon International Documentary Film Festival, the event adopted its current name in 1995 and is the largest Swiss documentary festival. At its inception, the festival promoted Swiss films and films that were otherwise inaccessible — that is, those created in the Eastern Bloc countries behind the Iron Curtain. Castro Theater
The Castro Theatre is a historic movie palace in San Francisco that became San Francisco Historic Landmark #100 in September 1976. Located at 429 Castro Street in the Castro District, it was built in 1922 with a California Churrigueresque façade that pays homage—in its great arched central window surmounted by a scrolling pediment framing a niche—to the basilica of Mission Dolores nearby. Its designer, Timothy L. Pflueger, also designed Oakland's Paramount Theater and other movie theaters in California during that period. The theater has over 1,400 seats (approx 800 downstairs and 600 in the balcony). The theater's ceiling is the last known leatherette ceiling in the United States and possibly the world.
