''Between the Concrete & Clouds'' is the sixth studio album by American indie rock musician Kevin Devine. It was his first album since 2009, released via Razor & Tie / Favorite Gentlemen. Kevin Devine
Kevin Devine (born December 19, 1979) is an American songwriter and musician from Staten Island, New York City, who is known for his introspective and political themes. He is a contemporary member of the underground indie rock and indie folk musical scenes, and his influences range from older indie artists such as Neutral Milk Hotel, Elliott Smith and Pavement to more mainstream and well known acts such as Nirvana and Bob Dylan. In 2013, Kevin Devine rejoined his previous band, Miracle of 86, for a series of reunion shows. History Beginnings Kevin Devine grew up in Brooklyn and Staten Island and has spent significant time in Manhattan and Queens. ''Make the Clocks Move'' is Kevin Devine's second studio album. It was released in 2003, making it the first of two albums released on Triple Crown Records. The German record label, Defiance Records, released a double LP set which bundled the album with Kevin's following album, ''Split the Country, Split the Street''. After it had been out of print for a period of time, the album was re-issued by Triple Crown Records on October 12, 2010. The re-issue features new artwork, Kevin's own extensive liner notes and an introductory note by Brand New vocalist Jesse Lacey. "Another Bag of Bones" is a song by Kevin Devine released on August 19, 2008, as a digital EP and a 7" vinyl record, with catalog number AFS.006 on the label Academy Fight Song. ''Put Your Ghost To Rest'' is Kevin Devine's fourth studio album. It was released on October 17, 2006 through Capitol Records. It was his first and only major label release as of 2009. It was produced by Rob Schnapf, who had previously produced records by Elliott Smith, of whom Kevin is an avid fan. In regards to the album's political and social themes, Kevin said that "''I was always very abstractly political. I listened to punk rock records and thought I could punch my time card. And then all this shit in the world made me have to sit up and pay attention – and that’s a good thing. Rob Schnapf
Rob Schnapf is an American record producer and musician. He was the co-producer (along with Tom Rothrock) of Elliott Smith's albums ''Either/Or'', '' XO'' (on which he also played guitar on the song "Baby Britain"), '' Figure 8'' and '' From a Basement on the Hill'', for which he was recruited by Smith's family to complete after Smith's death. Schnapf runs the Mant Sounds studio. Background Schnapf, along with Rothrock and partner Bradshaw Lambert, started Bong Load Custom Records in the early 1990s which is notable for releasing Beck's "Loser" single. Schnapf first heard Beck as he was playing on the street during the annual Sunset Junction Fair. A week later Rothrock saw Beck jump onstage to play in between bands during a show at Jabberjaw and approached him afterwards about recording his songs. ''Brother's Blood'' is the fifth studio album by American indie rock musician Kevin Devine, his first album since 2006 and first release on the Favorite Gentlemen record label. Background Throughout the course of 2008, Devine premiered a number of demos via his MySpace page and began adding new songs to his live set. ''Split the Country, Split the Street'' is Kevin Devine's third studio album. It was released in 2005, being the second of two albums released on Triple Crown Records. It is the first solo record released after Kevin was no longer in Miracle of 86 (a band in which he was the lead singer). The album features more rock oriented songs with fuller band arrangements than his previous two releases, and was produced by Chris Bracco, Mike Skinner & Kevin Devine. Kevin said of the album: ''"Split the Country was done after the band iracle of 86broke up, like the hangover from that.
