Benjamin Jackson (sailor)
Benjamin Jackson (January 2, 1835 – August 20, 1915) was a Canadian sailor and farmer who was a decorated veteran of the American Civil War. Raised in a small community of Black Nova Scotians, Jackson began his career as a commercial seaman at 16 years old and started a farm in his twenties. During the American Civil War, Jackson served for one year in the Union Navy in the place of a Conscription in the United States#Civil War, drafted US citizen. For most of that year, he was deployed in the Union blockade of the Confederate States of America, Confederate coastline. As a gun captain aboard the , Jackson served in the Battle of Mobile Bay. He disarmed multiple naval mines and once picked up a live shell (projectile), shell and threw it from the deck of the ''Richmond''. Benjamin Daydon Jackson (3 April 1846 – 12 October 1927) was a pioneering botanist and taxonomer who wrote the first volume of ''Index Kewensis'' to include all the flowering plants. Biography Jackson was the eldest child of Benjamin Daydon Jackson (''c.''1806-1855) and Elizabeth Gaze (b.''c.''1815), born in London and educated at private schools. He is perhaps best known as the compiler of ''Index Kewensis'', a reference book which appeared from 1893 to 1895, and was once accepted as authority throughout the world for names of flowering plants. In 1880 he was elected secretary of the Linnaean Society. Benjamin Donald Jackson is an American musician and songwriter best known for being the rhythm guitarist of Crimson Glory. He is also known for his short-lived band Parish, and his solo career consisted of two albums ''Here I Come'' and ''All Over You'', and his current project Avenging Benji. Biography Crimson Glory Ben Jackson co-founded the group that would eventually become known as Crimson Glory along with four other musicians, including drummer Dana Burnell, in Sarasota, Florida in 1979 under the name Pierced Arrow (later changed to 'Beowulf'). Benedict Jackson (born 23 May 1967) is an English professional golfer who has resided in Australia since 1987. During the course of his career, he has won several major golf tournaments, most notably the Western Australian Open in 1995. Biography Jackson was born on 23 May 1967 in the village of Helperby, North Yorkshire. He was educated at the private school King's Ely in Ely, Cambridgeshire. As a young amateur, Jackson represented the England Boys team in 1984.
