Owen Moore
Owen Moore (12 December 1886 – 9 June 1939) was an Irish-born American actor, appearing in more than 279 movies spanning from 1908 to 1937. Early life and career Moore was born in Fordstown Crossroads, County Meath, Ireland. Along with his parents, John and Rose Anna Moore, brothers Tom, Matt, and Joe, and sister Mary, he emigrated to the United States as a steerage passenger on board the S.S. ''Anchoria.'' The Moore family were inspected on Ellis Island in May 1896 and settled in the Toledo, Ohio area. Moore and his siblings went on to successful careers in motion pictures in Hollywood, California. While working at D. W. Griffith's Biograph Studios, Moore met a young Canadian actress named Gladys Smith, whom he married on January 7, 1911. Their marriage was kept secret at first because of the strong opposition of her mother. However, Smith soon overshadowed her husband under her stage name, Mary Pickford. Ethel Grandin (March 3, 1894 – September 28, 1988) was an American silent film actress. Grandin was born in New York City. She was married to Ray C. Smallwood from 1912 until his death on February 23, 1964; they had a son named Arthur Smallwood. She began her acting career on stage appearing with Joseph Jefferson in ''Rip Van Winkle''. She made her last film appearance in 1922. She died in Woodland Hills, California, of natural causes at age 94. Lucille May Young (March 6, 1883 – August 2, 1934) was an American actress of the early silent film era. Early life Lucille May Young was born on March 6, 1883, in Lansing, Michigan, the daughter of Glendower Young (1858–1927) and Katherine Bessie "Kittie" Young (1861–1942). She had one brother, Howard Earl Young, who was born a year earlier. Some sources give Lucille's birth name as Lucia Medina, her birth year as 1892, and her birthplace as Lyon, France. Her parents marriage was short-lived, and her mother remarried to James Mortimer Terry, gaining Young a half-sister, Ethel Terry, who also became an actress (not to be confused with Ethel Grey Terry). Career In 1905, Lucille and Ethel began performing in vaudeville in Detroit. One production noted in the Detroit Free Press was the "Isles of Spice".
