''Battle of the Five Armies'' is a board wargame published by LORE / JMJ Enterprises in 1975 — and later by TSR, Inc., TSR — that simulates the fictional Battle of Five Armies that was the finale of J.R.R. Tolkien's novel ''The Hobbit''. Gameplay ''Battle of the Five Armies'' is a wargame for two players, where one player controls the forces of good (the elves, humans and dwarves), while the second player controls the evil forces (goblins and wargs). The Good armies array themselves on the ridges overlooking the valley leading to the Lonely Mountain, while the Evil armies advance in the valley between the ridges. ''Dragon'' was one of the two official magazines for source material for the ''Dungeons & Dragons'' role-playing game and associated products, along with ''Dungeon (magazine), Dungeon''. TSR, Inc. originally launched the monthly printed magazine in 1976 to succeed the company's earlier publication, ''The Strategic Review''. The final printed issue was #359 in September 2007. Shortly after the last print issue shipped in mid-August 2007, Wizards of the Coast (part of Hasbro, Inc.), the publication's current copyright holder, relaunched ''Dragon'' as an online magazine, continuing on the numbering of the print edition. ''The Space Gamer'' was a magazine dedicated to the subject of science fiction and fantasy board games and tabletop role-playing games. It quickly grew in importance and was an important and influential magazine in its subject matter from the late 1970s through the mid-1980s. Contents ''The Comprehensive Guide to Board Wargaming'' is a 223-page book exploring wargaming as a hobby, written for an audience of both non-gamers and gamers. The book covers the evolution of wargames, strategy and tactics employed, short reviews of the games that were available when the book was published, and concludes with a sample game as an example of the hobby for newcomers. The original edition included a sample, small scale game, complete with terrain map. ''War of the Ring'' is a strategy board game based on The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. The game was made by Roberto Di Meglio, Marco Maggi and Francesco Nepitello, first produced by Nexus Editrice (Italy), and is currently published by Ares Games. Since its first print-run it has been produced in many languages: Fantasy Flight Games published the English edition in 2004. Richard "Rick" Priestley (born 29 March 1959) is an English miniature wargame designer and writer. He co-created the miniature wargame ''Warhammer Fantasy Battle'' and its science fiction counterpart ''Warhammer 40,000'' during his tenure at Games Workshop in the 1980s and 1990s. Following his time at Games Workshop, he went on to establish Warlord Games and co-create other titles such as ''Bolt Action''. Warmaster
''Warmaster'' is a ruleset for tabletop wargames written by Rick Priestley, published by Specialist Games (a division of Games Workshop), and set in the '' Warhammer Fantasy'' setting. It is different from ''Warhammer Fantasy Battles'' in both appearance and gameplay. It is intended for 10 –12 mm miniatures. Basic troops are based on stands, of which typically three make a unit. Generals, Heroes and Wizards are mounted individually or with their retinue. Gameplay focuses on command and control. While magic is used in the game, its effect on the game is limited. The game is designed to focus on the general's ability to command rather than just his army's ability to fight.
