Battle Of Katipunan
Battle of Katipunan refers to the school rivalry between Ateneo de Manila University and the University of the Philippines (UP) began during games and meets that preceded the establishing of the National Collegiate Athletic Association of the Philippines (NCAA), or which both schools were founding members, and continues in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) where both universities compete. After competing in the NCAA for several years, UP left the NCAA to co-found the UAAP. Ateneo joined the UAAP in 1978. As the main campuses of both schools are located along Katipunan Avenue in Quezon City, games between Ateneo and UP are referred to as the "Battle of Katipunan". UAAP Season 50
The 1987 UAAP men's basketball tournament was the 50th year of the men's tournament of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP)'s basketball championship. Hosted by Ateneo de Manila University, the Ateneo Blue Eagles defeated the UE Red Warriors in the finals taking their first UAAP men's basketball championship after transferring from the NCAA (Philippines) in 1978. UAAP Season 67
UAAP Season 67 is the 2004–05 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines, which was hosted by De La Salle University-Manila. The season opened on July 10, 2004. The Araneta Coliseum, also currently known by naming rights sponsorship as Smart Araneta Coliseum, is an indoor multi-purpose sports arena that is part of the Araneta City in the Cubao area of Quezon City, Philippines. Blue Eagle Gym
The Blue Eagle Gym is a gymnasium located in the main campus of the Ateneo de Manila University in Quezon City, Philippines. Unlike most gymnasiums, the basketball court is oriented perpendicular to the orientation of the building. History The indoor facility was built in 1949, three years before the Ateneo de Manila University moved from its Manila campus to its current main campus in Loyola Heights, Quezon City in 1952. At its inauguration in 1949, it was called the Ateneo de Manila Gymnasium or Ateneo Gym. From late 1960s to mid 1970s, it was officially known as the Loyola Center.
