Vice-Admiral Lancelot Ernest Holland, (13 September 1887 – 24 May 1941) was a Royal Navy officer who commanded the British force in the Battle of the Denmark Strait in May 1941 against the German battleship ''Bismarck''. Andrew Michael Graham-Yooll OBE (5 January 1944 – 5 July 2019) was an Argentine journalist, the son of a Scottish father and an English mother. He was the author of about thirty books, written in English and Spanish. ''A State of Fear'' ( Eland, 1986) has become a classic on the years of terror in Argentina. Cardal is a town in the Florida Department of southern-central Uruguay. Geography The town is located on Route 77 between the towns of Independencia and 25 de Mayo, about north of Veinticinco de Agosto and 30 km south of Florida capital city. History The date when the populated centre was first created is uncertain, but it is generally taken to be at the time the train station was established here, in 1900. Its status was elevated to "Pueblo" (village) on 10 September 1937 by the Act of Ley Nº 9.688, and on 28 January 1985, to "Villa" (town) by the Act of Ley Nº 15.707. The Battle of Montevideo took place between the British and Spanish Empires during the Napoleonic Wars, in which British forces captured the city of Montevideo. It formed part of the British invasions of the River Plate. Locally, it is remembered as the siege of Montevideo (). Prelude In the early morning of 3 February 1807, 3,000 British troops under Brigadier General Sir Samuel Auchmuty attacked the city of Montevideo.
