Basilicata Regional Council
The Regional Council of Basilicata (''Consiglio Regionale della Basilicata'') is the legislative assembly of Basilicata. It was first elected in 1970, when the ordinary regions were instituted, on the basis of the Constitution of Italy of 1948. Composition The Regional Council of Basilicata was originally composed of 30 regional councillors. Following the decree-law n. 138 of 13 August 2011 the number of regional councillors was reduced to 20, with an additional seat reserved for the President of the Region. Regional Council (Italy)
A regional council (''Consiglio regionale'') in Italy is the elected legislative assembly of a Regions of Italy, region of Italy. In Emilia-Romagna and Sicily, the legislative bodies are called the Legislative Assembly of Emilia-Romagna and the Sicilian Regional Assembly, officially nicknamed as Sicilian Parliament, respectively. The Greens and Left Alliance (, AVS) is a left-wing political alliance active in Italy, which was launched on 2 July 2022 as a federation of two political parties, Italian Left (SI) and Green Europe (EV). Basilicata (, ; ), also known by its ancient name Lucania (, , ), is an administrative region in Southern Italy, bordering on Campania to the west, Apulia to the north and east, and Calabria to the south. It has two coastlines: a 30-kilometre stretch on the Gulf of Policastro (Tyrrhenian Sea) between Campania and Calabria, and a longer coastline along the Gulf of Taranto (Ionian Sea) between Calabria and Apulia. Potenza (, ; ; , Potentino dialect: ''Putenz'') is a ''comune'' in the Southern Italian region of Basilicata (former Lucania). 2024 Basilicata Regional Election
The 2024 Basilicata regional election was held on 21 and 22 April 2024 for all 21 elected seats of the Regional Council of Basilicata and the president of Basilicata, who automatically becomes a member of the council alongside the second-placed candidate. It is the final election in Italy before the 2024 European Parliament election in June 2024 and the third election of the 2024 Italian regional elections cycle (after Sardinia and Abruzzo).
