Barry Morgan (musician)
Jerome Morgan (June 1931 – 1 November 2007), better known as Barry Morgan, was a British drummer for Blue Mink, CCS and other bands. He was the owner of Morgan Studios. Personal life and career Morgan was born in London, England in June 1931. He played drums on the British merchant fleet cruise ships in the early 1960s, and later for singer Tom Jones for ten years. Barry and his wife operated the Arena Theater in Houston. AllMusic lists 185 credits between 1964 and 2012. His son Brett Morgan also became a session drummer. Blue Mink
Blue Mink were a British six-piece pop group that existed from 1969 to 1977. Over that period they had six top 20 hit singles on the UK Singles Chart, and released five studio based albums. According to AllMusic: "they have been immortalised on a string of compilation albums, each recounting the string of effervescent hits that established them among Britain's best-loved pop groups of the early 1970s." Career Roger Coulam (keyboards) formed the band in the autumn of 1969, with American-born Madeline Bell (vocalist), Roger Cook (vocalist), Alan Parker (guitarist), Herbie Flowers (bassist), and Barry Morgan (drummer). Most of the songs were written by Cook and Roger Greenaway. Flowers, Morgan and Parker all worked with Coulam at London's Morgan Studios. The four of them recorded several backing tracks, with which Coulam approached Bell and Greenaway, (who had been half of David and Jonathan), as vocalists. ''The Mouse and the Mask'' (stylized as ''THE MOUSE & THE MASK'') is the only studio album by Danger Doom, a collaboration between the hip hop artists Danger Mouse and MF Doom. It was released in Europe on October 10, 2005, and on October 11, 2005 by the independent punk label Epitaph Records in the United States. It was also released by Lex Records in the UK on October 17, 2005, with different cover art. Concept and history The album is composed almost entirely of raps by MF Doom, performed over beats created by Danger Mouse sampling music from various television shows airing on Cartoon Network's programming block Adult Swim. The album was heavily promoted by the network prior to its release. "Sofa King" was released as a 12-inch single on November 4, 2005, and was followed by "Old School" on July 10, 2006. ''Evita'' is a concept album released in 1976 and produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice about the life of Eva Perón. Having successfully launched their previous show, ''Jesus Christ Superstar'', on record in 1970, Lloyd Webber and Rice returned to the format for ''Evita''. The album was recorded at Olympic Studios in London from April to September 1976 and released in the United Kingdom on 19 November 1976. Background Elements of the original plotline on this album were removed before the show was staged in London in 1978. "Che" here was much more explicitly based on Che Guevara, including a subplot about Guevara's failed efforts to market the insecticide Vendaval, most significantly highlighted in the song "The Lady's Got Potential". The track was cut from the score and a new song written to include the key plotline of Juan Perón's rise to power: "The Art of the Possible". ''Mallard'' is the eponymous debut by the group Mallard, who formed after tensions between them and Captain Beefheart exploded, causing them to leave his band (though the album's last track is a Beefheart composition). It was reissued as a CD with the band's other album, ''In a Different Climate'', added on. Mallard got their start with the help of Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson: he lent them his mobile studio for their work (he is thanked in the liner notes). ''Greatest Love Classics'' is the thirty-eighth studio album by American pop singer Andy Williams, released in 1984 by EMI Records. Williams writes in the liner notes: "All through my life I have known and loved the great classic melodies and wished I could sing them. ''A Possible Projection of the Future / Childhood's End'' is American musician Al Kooper's fifth album, recorded for and released by Columbia Records in 1972. Begun with a vague storyline that failed to survive beyond the two title tracks, the album was recorded in London, England at George Martin's AIR Studios with one outtake from ''New York City (You're A Woman)''. Six original tracks were surrounded by covers of Bob Dylan ("The Man in Me", which Kooper had originally produced), Smokey Robinson ("Swept For You Baby") and even Jimmy Cliff ("Please Tell Me Why"). The album cover showed Kooper as an eighty-year-old man, decrepit and clutching a Fender Jaguar guitar.
