Barney Williams (August 20, 1824 – April 25, 1876) was an Irish-American actor-comedian popular during the mid decades of the 19th century. He was probably best remembered by audiences of the day for playing Ragged Pat in J. A. Amherst's drama ''Ireland as it is'' and the title role in Samuel Lover's comic opera ''Rory O'More''. Throughout the greater part of his career he was billed along with his wife, the former Maria Pray, as Mr. and Mrs. Barney Williams. When Benjamin Day (publisher), Benjamin H. Day founded the ''New York Sun'' in 1833, he employed Williams as his first, and for a time, only Newspaper hawker, newsboy. Barney "Battling" Levinsky (born Lebowitz; June 10, 1890 – February 12, 1949) was an American boxer who was the world light heavyweight champion from 1916 to 1920. Statistical boxing website BoxRec lists Levinsky as the #12 ranked light heavyweight of all time, while ''The Ring Magazine'' founder Nat Fleischer placed him at #9. The International Boxing Research Organization rates Levinsky as the 20th best light heavyweight ever.All-Time Light Heavyweight Rankings

Barney Williams (songwriter)
Luther Dixon (August 7, 1931 – October 22, 2009) was an American songwriter, record producer, and singer. Dixon's songs achieved their greatest success in the 1950s and 1960s, and were recorded by Elvis Presley, the Beatles, the Jackson 5, B.B. King, Jerry Lee Lewis, Dusty Springfield, Jimmy Reed and others. As a producer, Dixon helped create the signature sound of the girl group the Shirelles. Early life Dixon was born in Jacksonville, Florida, but his family moved to Brooklyn, New York, when he was young. He learned to sing in church. Career Dixon began his professional career in 1954 with the Four Buddies, a doo-wop group led by Larry Harrison, in which Dixon sang baritone and occasionally played guitar. The Four Buddies recorded for Savoy Records, but also as the Barons for Decca Records and as The Buddies for Glory Records. Barney Guillermo Williams (born March 13, 1977) is a Canadian rower who won a gold medal at the 2003 world championships in Milan and a silver in the same event at the 2004 Summer Olympics. He also has two wins and a second in the four in Rowing World Cup events. On April 18, 2021Barney resigned from his position as head coach of the University of Victoria's women's varsity rowing programfollowing 3 seasons in response to Rowing Canada ruling that he had contravened an aspect of the National Coaching Certification Program code of ethics in the fall of 2018 . He was sanctioned with the appointment of a mentor coach or a 12-month ban from Rowing Canada activities on April 20, 2021.
