Bardhaman Uttar (Vidhan Sabha Constituency)
Bardhaman Uttar Assembly constituency (earlier called Burdwan North) is an assembly constituency in Purba Bardhaman district in the Indian state of West Bengal. The seat is reserved for scheduled castes from 2011. Nisith Kumar Malik from All India Trinamool Congress won from this constituency in 2016 assembly elections. Overview Bardhaman had two state assembly seats – Burdwan North and Burdwan South, both of which were earlier part of Burdwan (Lok Sabha constituency). As per order of the Delimitation Committee, the Bardhaman assembly constituencies were renamed Bardhaman Dakshin and Bardhaman Uttar. 1987 West Bengal Legislative Assembly Election
Legislative Assembly elections were held in the Indian state of West Bengal in 1987. The election was mainly a clash between the Left Front led by Chief Minister Jyoti Basu and the Indian National Congress(I) led by Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. The former held the state government and the latter the national government. The election was won by the Left Front, for the third time in a row.
