''Bangin' '' is the second album by the English pop rock band the Outfield, released in 1987. It yielded the top 40 hit, " Since You've Been Gone". The album also contained two other singles, "No Surrender" and "Bangin' on My Heart". "Bangin' on My Heart" reached number 40 on the ''Billboard'' rock chart. The album was certified gold by the RIAA. The band supported the album with a North American tour. The Outfield
The Outfield were an English pop rock band formed in London in 1984. The band achieved success in the mid-1980s and are best remembered for their hit single "Your Love (The Outfield song), Your Love". The band's lineup consisted of guitarist John Spinks (musician), John Spinks, vocalist and bassist Tony Lewis (musician), Tony Lewis, and drummer Alan Jackman. The band achieved commercial success in the United States but did not gain similar recognition in their home country, the United Kingdom. They began recording in the mid-1980s and released their first album, ''Play Deep'', in 1985 through Columbia Records. "Since You've Been Gone" is a song by the English rock band the Outfield. It was the lead single from their sophomore studio album, '' Bangin''' (1987), released on Columbia Records. The single was released in May 1987. In the U.S., the song hit number 11 on the ''Billboard'' Album Rock Tracks chart and number 31 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. It was the best-performing single from ''Bangin’''. Of particular note is the filming location of the video: the disused Beckton Gas Works outside of London was selected and the entire video was shot there. ''Play Deep'' is the debut studio album by English rock band the Outfield, released on 12 August 1985 by Columbia Records. The album received widespread popularity with the success of their debut single, "Say It Isn't So" (a regional number-one hit), which reached number 18 on the U.S. rock chart, and the follow-up single, "Your Love", which reached number 6 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in 1986. ''Play Deep'' peaked at number 9 on the U.S. albums chart and was later certified double Platinum. In total, four of the tracks reached the charts: the aforementioned two, along with "Everytime You Cry" and "All the Love". ''Voices of Babylon'' is the third studio album by the British band The Outfield, released during the spring of 1989 and which spawned an eponymous single. It was the group's last album to feature drummer Alan Jackman until the release of ''Replay'' in 2011. It was also their final album on the Columbia label. Following the album's release, and with their commercial success slipping, the band parted ways with Jackman and hired Paul Read as a replacement for the album's tour. This album features a unique script similar to what is known as the Pigpen cipher. On the album cover, the script says "OUTFIELD" and the liner notes show the title of each album track in that script. John Spinks (musician)
John Frederick Spinks (28 November 1953 − 9 July 2014) was an English musician and songwriter. He was best known as the guitarist and songwriter for the Outfield. Early life and career John Spinks was born in the East End of London in November 1953. Spinks, Tony Lewis, and Alan Jackman first played together in the 1970s band Sirius B. After rehearsing for six months, the group disbanded due to the advent of punk rock. In the 1980s, Spinks recorded several demos under the name Baseball Boys, a name chosen because it closely resembled a gang called the Baseball Furies from the film '' The Warriors''. "Just to be outrageous, I put what I felt was a stupid name on the demos," said Spinks, "and the people I took them to said, `Sounds great. Can we see the band?` And there wasn't really a band."
