Ballia Nagar is a constituency of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly covering the city of Ballia Nagar in the Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh, India. It is one of five assembly constituencies in the Ballia Lok Sabha constituency. Since 2008, this assembly constituency is numbered 361 amongst 403 constituencies. Daya Shankar Singh is an Indian politician and a member of 18th Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh representing Ballia Nagar. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party as well as the state vice-president of the party. Ballia is a city with a municipal board in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The election to the 17th Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly was held from 11 February to 8 March 2017 in 7 phases. This election saw a voter turnout of 61.11% compared to 59.40% in the previous election. A Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) is a representative elected by the voters of an electoral district (constituency) to the legislature of State government in the Indian system of government. From each constituency, the people elect one representative who then becomes a member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA).
