Baldassare Croce
Baldassare Croce (Bologna, 1558–November 8, 1628) was an Italian painter, active during the late-Mannerist period, active mainly in and around Rome. Biography He trained in Bologna, and moved to Rome by 1581. Known as a prolific academic painter in Rome; he was named director of the Academy of St. Luke. He painted for the Sala Clementina of the Vatican palace, for the Chapel of San Francesco at the Gesù, San Giovanni in Laterano, and San Giacomo degli Spagnoli. He painted six large frescoes along the nave of the church of Santa Susanna, depicting the life of the Susanna from the Old Testament. He worked under Cesare Nebbia and Giovanni Guerra in the decoration of the ''Scala Santa'' in San Giovanni in Laterano. Baldassare Peruzzi
Baldassare Tommaso Peruzzi (7 March 1481 – 6 January 1536) was an Italian architect and painter, born in a small town near Siena (in Ancaiano, ''frazione'' of Sovicille) and died in Rome. He worked for many years with Bramante, Raphael, and later Sangallo during the erection of the new St. Peter's. He returned to his native Siena after the Sack of Rome (1527) where he was employed as architect to the Republic. For the Sienese he built new fortifications for the city and designed (though did not build) a remarkable dam on the Bruna River near Giuncarico. He seems to have moved back to Rome permanently by 1535. He died there the following year and was buried in the Rotunda of the Pantheon, near Raphael. Baldassare Palazzotto (1770 - 1858) was an Italian priest, bibliographer and one of the earliest ornithologists to study the birds of Sicily. Born in Palermo, he was the brother of the architect Emmanuel and came from a family of builders. Palazzotto was born in the family of builders with royal patronage. His father was Salvatore Palazzotto (1751-1825) and their family, including Giuseppe Palazzotto had been active in Catania. Baldassare Longhena (1598 – 18 February 1682) was an Italian architect, who worked mainly in Venice, where he was one of the greatest exponents of Baroque architecture of the period. His style is characterized by monumentality, skillful use of light and shadow, and an understanding of Venetian aesthetics. Baldassare Labanca
Baldasarre Labanca (16 February 1832 – 22 January 1913) was an Italian Christian theologian and historian. Life Baldasarre was born in Campobasso in Molise. His father, a merchant in town, ultimately had nine children. Baldassare was sent to apprentice with a maternal uncle who had liberal leanings, including connections with carboneria. He was enrolled in the Seminary of Trivento during 1843-1845, but upon the death of his father, he was sent to Naples to help with the family business. In Naples, he gravitated to the circle of Francesco de Sanctis, and thus in January through May 1848 participated in the brief attempt to establish constitutional government in Naples. This earned him a brief imprisonment by the Bourbon authorities. Once released, he continued his education in theology but also in canonical law. Baldassare Galuppi (18 October 17063 January 1785) was a Venetian composer, born on the island of Burano in the Venetian Republic. He belonged to a generation of composers, including Johann Adolph Hasse, Giovanni Battista Sammartini, and C. P. E. Baldassare Ferri (9 December 1610 – 10 September 1680) was an Italian ''castrato'' singer. He is said to have possessed "extraordinary endurance of breath, flexibility of voice and depth of emotion". History He was born in Perugia, and at the age of eleven was a chorister to Cardinal Crescenzi, at Orvieto. In his youth, he had an 'ugly accident', which necessitated an 'operation which permanently preserved his magnificent soprano voice'. He remained a chorister in Orvieto until 1655, when the Swedish invasion broke up the court. Four years later the Prince, and later Wladislaus IV, of Poland, secured Ferri's services for the Court of Sigismund III, at Warsaw. In 1655 the singer entered the service of Ferdinand III in Vienna.
