Balathal
Balathal is an archaeological site located in Vallabhnagar tehsil of Udaipur district of Rajasthan state in western India. It is one of the ninety Ahar-Banas culture sites located in the Basins of the Banas river and its tributaries. Excavation The archaeological site, located 6 km from Vallabhnagar town and 42 km from Udaipur city. It was discovered by V. N. Misra during a survey in 1962-63. It was excavated from 1994 to 2000, jointly by the Department of Archaeology of the Deccan College Post-graduate and Research Institute, Pune and the Institute of Rajasthan Studies, Rajasthan Vidyapeeth, Udaipur under the direction of V. N. Misra of the Deccan College. Balathal is one of the important sites in Mewar region of Rajasthan. The extensive excavations carried out at the site have produced vast amounts of data. Ahar–Banas Culture
The Ahar culture, also known as the Banas culture is a Chalcolithic archaeological culture on the banks of the Ahar River of southeastern Rajasthan state in India, lasting from 3000 to 1500 BCE, contemporary and adjacent to the Indus Valley civilization. Situated along the Banas and Berach Rivers, as well as the Ahar River, the Ahar–Banas people were exploiting the copper ores of the Aravalli Range to make axes and other artefacts. They were sustained on a number of crops, including wheat and barley. Geographical extent More than 90 sites of the Ahar culture have been identified to date. The main distribution seems to be concentrated in the river valleys of Banas and its tributaries. A number of sites with Ahar culture level are also found from Jawad, Mandsaur, Kayatha and Dangwada in Madhya Pradesh state. Virendra Nath Misra
Virendra Nath Misra (9 January 1935 – 31 October 2015) was an Indian archaeologist. He graduated from University of Pune. He is noted for his research into the Indus Valley civilization. Life and career Misra came from a small Village at the bank of ramganga river-Nisvi, Khandauli, in Farrukhabad district, Uttar Pradesh. After completing his initial studies from the University of Lucknow, he joined the Deccan College, Pune and graduated from the University of Pune. He is noted for his research in Prehistory, Protohistory and Ethnoarchaeology. A career spanning over several decades, Misra is remembered for his studies in northern Rajasthan, western Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. Leprosy, also known as Hansen's disease (HD), is a Chronic condition, long-term infection by the bacteria ''Mycobacterium leprae'' or ''Mycobacterium lepromatosis''.
