CBeebies
CBeebies is a British free-to-air Public service broadcasting in the United Kingdom, public broadcast children's television channel owned and operated by the BBC. It is also the brand used for all BBC content targeted for children aged six years and under. Its sister channel, CBBC, is intended for older children aged six to twelve. It broadcasts every day from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm, timesharing with BBC Four. A television show, TV program (), or simply a TV show, is the general reference to any content produced for viewing on a television set that is broadcast via over-the-air, satellite, and cable, or distributed digitally on streaming platforms. Balamory
''Balamory'' is a Scottish live-action children's programme on CBeebies for pre-school children, about a fictional small island community off the west coast of Scotland, named ''Balamory''. Four series were produced from 2002 to 2005 by BBC Scotland, with 253 episodes made (including a DVD-exclusive Christmas episode). The programme was created by Brian Jameson. To celebrate the show's 20th anniversary, 25 episodes from Series 4 were added to BBC iPlayer on 30 August 2022. On 17 September 2024, it was announced that the show will return for two new series in 2026 on CBeebies including bringing back old characters from the past. In May 2025, they held auditions for the children of the nursery. The revival series will be produced by Lion Television Scotland, under a tender contract from the BBC. Prince Charming
Prince Charming is a fairy tale stock character archetype who comes to the rescue of a damsel in distress and must engage in a quest to liberate her from an evil spell. This classification suits most heroes of a number of traditional folk tales, including "Snow White", "Sleeping Beauty", "Rapunzel" and "Cinderella", even if in the original story they were given another name, or no name at all. Elements of the Prince Charming character date at least back to Charles Perrault's ''Sleeping Beauty'', published in 1697. Ugly Sisters
Cinderella's stepsisters are characters in the fairy tale and pantomime, Cinderella. They are the daughters of Cinderella's Stepmother#Fiction, wicked stepmother, who treat her poorly. The sisters have been in variations of the story from as early as researchers have been able to determine. Buttons (pantomime)
Buttons is a traditional character in ''Cinderella'' pantomimes, and is commonly portrayed in Cinderella pantomimes throughout the UK and Australia. He is typically a male servant of the household who helps Cinderella and loves her, and who is liked and trusted but not loved by her. The character has sometimes been called Pedro. The character first appeared in 1860 at the Strand Theatre, London in a version of the story derived from the opera '' La Cenerentola'' by Rossini. Rossini includes a character Dandini as assistant to the Prince, which was also included, and a complementary character for Cinderella, called Buttoni was added for the pantomime at this time. 'Buttons' was at that time a name for a young male servant or pageboy commonly having gilt buttons down the front of his jacket. Dandini (character)
Dandini is a character in the opera ''La Cenerentola'' by Rossini and also in the ''Cinderella'' pantomime. He is the male servant of the Prince (the principal male character: Don Ramiro in the opera, commonly Prince Charming in the pantomime). Dandini helps the Prince to meet the principal female character (known as Angelina or Cinderella) without her knowing that he is a prince. Dandini pretends to be the prince and the real prince pretends to be his servant. In panto it is often played by a young woman, who dresses similarly to the Principal boy for the identity swap.
