''Bala Nagamma'' is a 1942 Telugu-language film directed by C. Pullayya and produced by S. S. Vasan. The story Bala Nagamma was one of the most popular Burrakathas. It was one of the successful early films made by Gemini Studios in Telugu which was not remade in Tamil. Gemini Studios remade the film in Hindi starring Madhubala titled '' Bahut Din Huwe'' (1954). The film was later remade in 1959 with same name under the direction of Vedantam Raghavayya. Plot The story is about Bala Nagamma, a young princess. The queen Bhulakshmi wife of King Navabhojaraju, prays Jatangi Muni for progeny and is blessed with seven children; the youngest of them is named Bala Nagamma ( Kanchanamala). She is married off to Karyavardi Raju (Banda). She is kidnapped by Mayala Marathi ( Govindarajula Subbarao), who turns her into a dog and takes her to his cave at Nagullapudi Gattu. ''Bala Nagamma'' is a 1959 Indian Telugu-language fantasy swashbuckler film directed by Vedantam Raghavayya. The film stars N. T. Rama Rao, Anjali Devi, and S. V. Ranga Rao with music composed by T. V. Raju. It is a remake of the 1942 Telugu film of the same name. Plot The film begins with Queen Bhulakshmi, wife of King Nava Bhoja, penances Shiva for progeny. Ultimately, she acquires the boon, and according to the Lord's mandate, she procures a fruit from the tree by stepping on an anthill. At this, enraged Nagendra is about to kill her, but she begs for life until her motherhood. After a while, Bhulakshmi is blessed with seven daughters and decides to repent. Anyhow, Nava Bhoja bars and attempts to shield her but gets a victim of a snake bite and dies. Now, the King coercively knits a shrew, Manikyamba, who oppress the kids. ''Bala Nagamma'' is a 1981 Indian film, directed by K. Shankar. A Tamil-Telugu bilingual, the film stars Sarath Babu and Sridevi. It is a remake of the 1942 Telugu film of the same name. The Tamil version was released on 26 October 1981, and the Telugu version on 30 April 1982. Plot Queen Punitha prays to the goddess Nagadevi to have a child as the kingdom has no heirs. The goddess offers her the choice of having a boy but losing her husband or having a girl and losing her own life. She chooses the latter and soon gives birth to a girl, Bala Nagamma. As she is dying, she asks Nagadevi to watch over her child. The king is heart-broken but is convinced to remarry so his daughter can have a mother. He marries Mohana who plots to be rid of Bala Nagamma to secure her own power in the kingdom. She convinces the king that his daughter's horoscope means he will die if Bala Nagamma lives.
