Baila Music
Baila (also known as bayila; from the Portuguese verb ''bailar'', meaning ''to dance'') is a form of music, popular in Sri Lanka and among Goan Catholics in India. The genre originated centuries ago among the Portuguese Burghers and Sri Lankan Kaffirs. Baila songs are played during parties and weddings in Sri Lanka, Goa, and Mangalore accompanied by dancing. Baila music, as a form of folk art, has been popular for centuries in Sri Lanka. During the early 1960s, it entered into Sri Lanka's mainstream culture, primarily through the work of police officer turned singer Wally Bastiansz. He began adapting the 6/8 "''kaffirhina''" rhythms to accommodate Sinhala lyrics. By the 1970s musicians, including MS Fernando and Maxwell Mendis, had helped Baila grow into a well known and respected style of Sri Lankan popular music. It is primarily considered dance music. Alliage (band)
Alliage was a French boy band active from 1996 to 2000. History Alliage was assembled during the 1990s boy band craze. The musical group was met with the most commercial success in France alongside fellow boy acts like Worlds Apart, 2Be3 and G-Squad. The band included four young men; Steven Gunnell, Roman Lata Ares, Brian Torres and lead singer Quentin Elias. Alliage, whose name translates as "mixture," was marketed as a multicultural fusion of several different ethnic origins: Corsican, Spanish, American, and Algerian- French, respectively. Some of their songs were " alliages" of several languages such as "Baila" and "Lucy". Baïla is a village in the rural community of Suelle, Sindian, Bignona, Ziguinchor, Casamance, Senegal. History Boukout, a Jola rite of passage, took place in Baïla for the first time in 1971, but it was 36 years before it was held there again. Leordeni is a commune in Argeș County, Muntenia, Romania. It is composed of fourteen villages: Baloteasca, Băila, Bântău, Budișteni, Ciolcești, Ciulnița, Cârciumărești, Cotu Malului, Glâmbocata, Glâmbocata-Deal, Glodu, Leordeni, Moara Mocanului, and Schitu Scoicești.
