''Badlands of Montana'' is a 1957 American Western film written, produced and directed by Daniel B. Ullman and starring Rex Reason, Margia Dean, Beverly Garland and Keith Larsen. Plot The plot follows Steven Brewster, a mayoral candidate who is tricked into a gunfight and kills his opponent. He then takes up with a gang of badlands outlaws and takes part in robberies. After being wounded and captured, his friends rescue him and bring him back to Helena where he is elected sheriff. ''Daniel'' is an anonymous Old English poem based loosely on the Biblical Book of Daniel, found in the Junius Manuscript. The author and the date of ''Daniel'' are unknown. Critics have argued that Cædmon is the author of the poem, but this theory has been since disproven. ''Daniel'', as it is preserved, is 764 lines long. There have been numerous arguments that there was originally more to this poem than survives today. The majority of scholars, however, dismiss these arguments with the evidence that the text finishes at the bottom of a page, and that there is a simple point, which translators assume indicates the end of a complete sentence. ''Daniel'' contains a plethora of lines which Old English scholars refer to as “ hypermetric” or long. John Pickard (American Actor)
John M. Pickard (June 25, 1913 – August 4, 1993) was an American actor who appeared primarily in television Westerns. Early life Pickard was born in Lascassas in Rutherford County, near Murfreesboro in Middle Tennessee. He graduated from the Nashville Conservatory in Nashville, Tennessee. His first acting roles were small parts in films, mostly uncredited, beginning in 1936 as a dueling soldier in the picture '' Mary of Scotland'', based on the 16th century queen, Mary of Scotland. Career Pickard returned to acting after the war and appeared in supporting roles in scores of Westerns and action dramas before landing the starring role in the syndicated television series, '' Boots and Saddles'', set in an Arizona fort in the late 19th century. Jacob "Jack" Kruschen (March 20, 1922 – April 2, 2002) was a Canadian character actor who worked primarily in American film, television and radio. Russ Bender (January 1, 1910 – August 16, 1969) was an American actor. Career Before becoming an actor, Bender wrote detective stories for magazines. That part of his life was interrupted when he joined the Army. By the time he returned to civilian life, the market for such material had decreased. At that point, he became an actor, appearing in the ''Gunsmoke'' episode “Gold Mine” (S11E15 of 1965). Even then, he continued to write to some extent, creating script for five films as well as "numerous television scripts". Paul Emory "Tiny" Newlan (June 29, 1903 – November 23, 1973) was an American film and TV character actor from Plattsmouth, Nebraska. He was best known for his role as Captain Grey on the NBC police series '' M Squad'' and for his roles in films including '' The Americanization of Emily'' and '' The Slender Thread''.
