''Having a Party'' is a 1982 studio album from Swedish group Chips. It was released in May 1982. The album sold more than 100 000 copies in Sweden, both gold and platinum. Back in those days, the demands for selling gold and platinum were higher than as of today (2006). Gold was at least 50 000 and platinum was at least 100 000. ''Having a Party'' is the fourth studio album by United States, American family vocal group the Pointer Sisters, released in 1977 on the ABC Records, ABC/Blue Thumb Records, Blue Thumb label. History It was a series of lasts for the group in many ways. With youngest member June Pointer, June out for a brief time, the remaining trio of Ruth Pointer, Ruth, Anita Pointer, Anita and Bonnie Pointer, Bonnie recorded the set with June also appearing on the title track (a cover of Sam Cooke's hit). As it turned out, it would be the last album to feature Bonnie, the last album to feature David Rubinson as their producer and the last album the group recorded for Blue Thumb. Their next album would be on Planet Records, a year later, and would include the return of June Pointer, for a new chapter in the group's career. "Having a Party" is a song by American singer-songwriter Sam Cooke, released on May 8, 1962 by RCA Victor. Produced by Hugo & Luigi and arranged and conducted by René Hall, the song was the A-side to " Bring It On Home to Me". The song peaked at number four on ''Billboard'' Hot R&B Sides chart, and also charted at number 17 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Background "Having a Party", like its B-side, "Bring It On Home to Me", was written while Cooke was on tour for Henry Wynn. While in Atlanta, Cooke called co-producer Luigi Creatore and pitched both numbers; he was sold and booked an immediate recording session in Los Angeles scheduled for two weeks later. The session's mood "matched the title" of the song, according to biographer Peter Guralnick, as many friends had been invited. "It was a very happy session," recalled engineer Al Schmitt.
