Ralph Babet
Ralph Emmanuel Didier "Deej" Babet ( ; born 29 June 1983) is an Australian politician. He has been a senator for Victoria in the Australian Parliament since 2022, representing the United Australia Party (UAP), and is the party's only current federal elected representative. Prior to entering politics, he was a real estate agent. Early life and career Babet was born on 29 June 1983 on the remote Indian Ocean island of Rodrigues, part of the Republic of Mauritius. He and his family migrated to Australia in 1990 when he was seven years old, and he became an Australian citizen in 1993. He spoke French as his first language. Babet grew up in Doveton, attending the Holy Family Catholic Primary School and later St John's Regional College in Dandenong. He holds the degree of Bachelor of Business from Swinburne University of Technology and an advanced diploma in sales and marketing from the Chisholm Institute. Raphaël Babet
Raphaël Babet (27 June 1894 – 30 August 1957) was a French politician. Babet was born in Saint-Pierre, Réunion. He represented the Democratic and Socialist Union of the Resistance (UDSR) in the Constituent Assembly elected in 1946 and in the National Assembly from 1946 to 1957. Babette Cochois
Babette Cochois (1723-1780), also known as Babet Cochois and Barbe Cochois, was a French ballerina and writer, active in Prussia. Her parentage is unknown. She was the sister of the ballerina Marianne Cochois and the second cousin of Marie Sallé. She was engaged at the French Royal Court Theatre of Frederick the Great in Prussia between 1743 and 1749. She was considered a leading artist, and was given the rare privilege by the king to reside in Charlottenburg Palace. In 1743, when the Berlin Opera was inaugurated, she made her debut there. In 1749 she married the French writer Jean-Baptiste de Boyer, Marquis d'Argens. She retired as a ballerina, but became active as a writer. HMS Babet (1794)
HMS ''Babet'' was a 20-gun sixth-rate post ship of the British Royal Navy. She had previously been a corvette of the French Navy under the name ''Babet'', until her capture in 1794, during the French Revolutionary Wars. She served with the British, capturing several privateers and other vessels, and was at the Battle of Groix. She disappeared in the Caribbean in 1800, presumably having foundered. French career and capture ''Babet'' was built at Le Havre, one of a two-ship ''Prompte'' class of 20-gun corvettes built to a design by Joseph-Marie-Blaise Coulomb. In the Bay of Biscay, on 18 May 1793, Captain Andrew Snape Douglas's captured her sister, ''Prompte'', which the Royal Navy took into service as HMS ''Prompte''. Storm Babet (known as Storm Viktor in Germany) was an intense extratropical cyclone which affected large parts of northern and western Europe. The second named storm of the 2023–24 European windstorm season, Babet was named by the UK's Met Office on 16 October 2023. Impact Denmark On 20 October, parts of Denmark experienced water levels over two metres higher than usual, with a water level of measured in Aabenraa and Hesnæs, and many parts of Aabenraa had to be evacuated. In Sønderborg, the storm surge was the highest since 1904, with a water level of above normal, and was the highest since records began in 1892 at Gedser with a height of above normal. A wind gust of 122 km/h (34 m/s) was recorded in Nordborg. 142 flights at Copenhagen Airport were cancelled due to the storm.
