BR-401 is a federal highway in the state of Roraima in Brazil. The road connects Boa Vista with Normandia and the road network of Guyana. The over the Branco River was completed on 29 August 1975. Boa Vista, Roraima
Boa Vista (, literally ''Good View''; figuratively "Fairview") is the capital of the Brazilian state of Roraima. Situated on the western bank of the Branco River, the city lies 109 km from Brazil's border with Venezuela, and 58 km away from the border with the Guyana. It is the only Brazilian state capital located entirely north of the equator. Boa Vista is the most populous municipality in the state of Roraima; approximately half of the population of the state lives in the city. Takutu River Bridge
The Takutu River Bridge () is a bridge across the Takutu River, linking Lethem in Guyana to Bonfim in Brazil. It was completed in 2009 and opened on 31 July 2009. Its official inauguration was on 14 September 2009, in the presence of leaders of both countries. It cost US$5 million and was paid for by Brazil. Branco River
The Branco River (; Engl: ''White River'') is the principal affluent of the Rio Negro from the north. Basin The river drains the Guayanan Highlands moist forests ecoregion. It is enriched by many streams from the Tepui highlands which separate Venezuela and Guyana from Brazil. Its two upper main tributaries are the Uraricoera and the Takutu. The latter almost links its sources with those of the Essequibo; during floods headwaters of the Branco and those of the Essequibo are connected, allowing a level of exchange in the aquatic fauna (such as fish) between the two systems. Normandia () is a city located in the northeastern region of the Brazilian state of Roraima. Normandia covers , and has an estimated population of 11,532 as of 2020 with a population density of 1.28 inhabitants per square kilometer. Lethem is a town in Guyana’s south, located in the Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo region. It is the regional capital of Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo. Bonfim, Roraima
Bonfim () is a municipality located in the mideast of the state of Roraima in Brazil. Its population is 12,557 and its area is 8,095 km2. The city lies opposite the Takutu River from Lethem, Guyana. The Takutu River Bridge links Bonfim and Roraima with the town of Lethem and the Atlantic port of Georgetown, Guyana. Overview In 1775, the Portuguese built Fort São Joaquim at the confluence of the Uraricoera and the Takutu River to prevent the Dutch from advancing into the area.
