B92
RTV B92, or simply B92 (stylized as b92, formerly BΞ92 and B 92), is a Serbian news station and broadcaster with national coverage headquartered in Belgrade. Founded in 1989 as radio station, it was a rare outlet for Western news and information in FR Yugoslavia under Slobodan Milošević, and was a force behind many demonstrations that took place in Belgrade during the turbulent 1990s. It also played rock music. Due to this, RTV B92 won the MTV Free Your Mind award in 1998, and many other awards for journalism and fighting for human rights. RTV B92 is the subject of the best-selling book ''This is Serbia Calling''. On 6 October 2000, the day following the overthrow of Slobodan Milošević, television B92 started broadcasting. Veran Matić
Veran Matić ( sr-Cyrl, Веран Матић; born May 19, 1962) is a Serbian media manager who was the CEO of RTV B92 from its establishment in 1989 until 2019. He is also the chairman of the commission for investigating killings of journalists established in February 2013 on his initiative and supported by the Government of Serbia. In 1993, he was awarded a CPJ International Press Freedom Award by the US-based Committee to Protect Journalists, and in 2000, the Austria-based International Press Institute named him one of its fifty World Press Freedom Heroes of the last fifty years. Career Matić graduated from the University of Belgrade with a degree in world literature. He first became involved in independent youth media in 1984, and in May 1989, co-founded the independent radio station B92 with Sasa Mirkovic. The Overthrow of Slobodan Milošević began in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia after the general election on 24 September 2000 and culminated in the downfall of Slobodan Milošević's government on 5 October 2000. As such, it is commonly referred to as the 5 October Revolution () or colloquially the Bulldozer Revolution (), after one of the most memorable episodes from the day-long protest in which a heavy equipment operator charged the Radio Television of Serbia building, considered to be symbolic of the Milošević regime's propaganda. Prva (; sr-Cyrl, Прва, lit=First) or Prva Srpska Televizija ( sr-Cyrl, Прва српска телевизија, lit=First Serbian Television), is a Serbian commercial television network with national coverage. It was launched on 31 December 2006, at 7 pm, as Fox Televizija. From its inception until December 2009, it was majority-owned by the global media conglomerate News Corporation (News Corp), which attached its Fox brand to the operation, naming Dan Bates as the CEO. It was founded in 1993 as an offshoot of the Hacker (computer security), hackers club Hack-Tic by Felipe Rodriquez, Rop Gonggrijp, Paul Jongsma and Cor Bosman, while based in Amsterdam. Slobodan Milošević ( sr-Cyrl, Слободан Милошевић, ; 20 August 1941 – 11 March 2006) was a Yugoslav and Serbian politician who was the President of Serbia between 1989 and 1997 and President of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia from 1997 until Overthrow of Slobodan Milošević, his оverthrow in 2000. Svetlana Lukić
Svetlana Lukić (born December 14, 1958) is a Serbian journalist. She was born in Belgrade and received a degree in journalism from the Belgrade College of Political Sciences. Lukić hosted the radio show ''Niko kao ja'' on Radio Belgrade from 1987 to 1993; in 1990, she received an award from the Serbian Journalists Association for her work on this show. She was dismissed from Radio Belgrade in 1993 and joined Radio Brod, a project sponsored by the European Union, reporting on the war in the former Yugoslavia.
