''B.C. Dutt'' class of tugboats are series of service watercraft built by Tebma Shipyard Limited (a subsidiary of Bharati Shipyard Ltd), for Indian navy during 1998-99. The vessels in the class have a rated capacity of 25 ton bollard pull. The propulsion is provided by Schottel Rudder Propeller (SRP). Tebma Shipyards Limited is a Chennai based shipbuilding company in India. The company has delivered more than 150 vessels, mainly offshore support vessels. It was shut down in June 2018 due to various reasons. History Tebma was incorporated in 1984 and commenced operations in 1987. It has shipyards at Malpe in Karnataka, Kochi in Kerala and Chengalpet in Tamil Nadu. On 24 November 2010, Bharati Shipyard acquired a 51 per cent stake in the Tebma Shipyards for a price of through a fresh issue of capital at a price of Rs 19.20 per share (face value of Rs 10). Bharati Defence and Infrastructure Limited (formerly Bharati Shipyard Limited) is one of the largest shipbuilding companies in India. History Bharati Shipyard Limited (BSL) was founded in 1973 in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra by Prakash C. Bollard pull is a conventional measure of the pulling (or towing) power of a watercraft. It is defined as the force (in tonnes force, or kilonewtons (kN)) exerted by a vessel under full power, on a shore-mounted bollard through a tow-line, commonly measured in a practical test (but sometimes simulated) under test conditions that include calm water, no tide, level trim, and sufficient depth and side clearance for a free propeller stream.
