Axness
Tyler Steven Axness (born 1987) is an American talk radio host and former politician. A member of the North Dakota Democratic–Nonpartisan League Party, he served in the North Dakota Senate for the 16th district from 2013 to 2016. Politics and early career Axness was a North Dakota Democratic-NPL State Senator who represented North Dakota's 16th legislative district in the North Dakota Senate from 2013 to 2016. Axness had previously served as the communication and policy coordinator of the Freedom Resource Center. Joe Miller is an American politician. He served as a Republican member of the North Dakota Senate from 2009 to 2016. Biography Miller graduated from Valley City State University, earning a B.A. in social science. Miller was elected to the North Dakota Senate in 2008 as a republican from the 16th district (following redistricting, the 10th district). He successfully challenged and unseated democratic incumbent senator Harvey D. Tallackson. He was reelected in 2012 against democrat Daryl Passa. He retired from the senate in 2016 and he did not seek reelection. In the 2016 North Dakota gubernatorial election, Miller endorsed Doug Burgum over Marvin Nelson. The North Dakota Democratic–Nonpartisan League Party (abbreviated Democratic-NPL or simply D-NPL) is the North Dakota affiliate of the national Democratic Party. It was formed by the 1956 merger of the state Democratic Party with the Nonpartisan League; the state previously had a three-party political system. The D-NPL is one of only two state Democratic Party affiliates to have a different name from the central party, the other being the neighboring Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party. The North Dakota State Senate is the upper house of the North Dakota Legislative Assembly, smaller than the North Dakota House of Representatives. Per the state constitution, North Dakota is divided into between 40 and 54 legislative districts apportioned by population as determined by the decennial census. The 2000 redistricting plan provided for 47 districts, with one senator elected from each district. Senators serve four-year terms. Elections are staggered such that half the senate districts have elections every two years. In the 2022 North Dakota elections, a ballot measure passed with 63.4% of the vote creating term limits of eight years in the North Dakota Senate, which was put into effect starting January 2023. Licensed to Fargo, North Dakota, KFGO broadcasts a news and talk radio format serving the Fargo-Moorhead metropolitan area, branded "The Mighty 790, 94.1, and 104.7".
