Avriel Benjamin Kaplan (born April 17, 1989) is an American singer-songwriter. He is known for being the former vocal bass of the a cappella group Pentatonix from 2011 to 2017. As a part of the group, he released five studio albums, won three Grammy Awards, and sold over six million albums. In June 2017, Kaplan released his solo debut EP ''Sage and Stone'' under the name Avriel & the Sequoias. The EP served as his departure from the pop-based sounds of Pentatonix to folk-oriented styles. After retiring the stage name and signing with Fantasy Records, Kaplan released his second EP ''I'll Get By'' in February 2020. Avi Nimni
Avi Nimni (; born 26 April 1972) is an Israeli former professional footballer and Maccabi Tel Aviv's highest ever scorer. He is regarded as one of Maccabi Tel Aviv's greatest players ever. Until 2006, he served as the captain of the Israel national team. His number 8 shirt has become so symbolic (despite him wearing the number sixteen as a youth, because Uri Malmilian wore the number 8) that Maccabi Tel Aviv has retired the number at the end of his active football career. Avi Avital
Avi Avital (; born 19 October 1978) is an Israeli mandolinist. He is best known for his renditions of well-known Baroque and folk music, much of which was originally written for other instruments. He has been nominated for a Grammy Award (Best Instrumental Soloist with Ensemble) and in 2013 signed a record agreement with Deutsche Grammophon. Early life Avital was born in the Israeli city of Be'er Sheva and showed an aptitude for the mandolin at an early age; by the time he was eight years old, he was performing with a local orchestra. He went on to study at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and the Cesare Pollini Conservatory of Music in Padua, Italy, where the focus of his work moved from mandolin transcriptions of violin pieces to those originally written with his instrument in mind. Avraham "Avi" Cohen (; born 12 June 1962) is an Israeli former footballer who played as a Defender (association football)#Full-back, right back. He is often referred as Avi Cohen II or Avi Cohen of Jerusalem to distinguish himself from the Avi Cohen, player of the same name, born in 1956. Career Cohen began his career at Beitar Jerusalem F.C., Beitar Jerusalem, initially as a striker, but moved back to the right back position. Avraham "Avi" Ben-Chimol (; born May 22, 1985) is an Israeli professional basketball player for Maccabi Haifa of the Israeli Premier League. Avi Shlaim
Avi Shlaim (, ; born 31 October 1945) is an Israeli and British historian of Iraqi Jewish descent. He is one of Israel's " New Historians", a group of Israeli scholars who put forward critical interpretations of the history of Zionism and Israel. Biography Shlaim was born to wealthy Jewish parents in Baghdad in the Kingdom of Iraq. In the 1930s, the situation of the Jews in Iraq deteriorated, with the rise of nationalisms in Arab countries, and the concomitant growth of Jewish nationalism in the form of Zionism. Persecution of Jews was exacerbated after the defeat of the Arab armies in 1948, and Israel's independence. In 1951, during Operation Ezra and Nehemiah, Shlaim's family, along with most of Iraq's Jews, registered to emigrate to Israel and forfeit their Iraqi citizenship. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan and professor of computer science at Johns Hopkins University, Technical Director of the Information Security Institute at Johns Hopkins, Director of ACCURATE, and President and co-founder of Independent Security Evaluators. Avi Nesher (Hebrew language, Hebrew: אבי נשר; born 13 December 1952) is an Israeli film producer, film director, screenwriter and actor. Biography Avi Nesher was born and raised in Ramat Gan, Israel. Avi Ran
Avi Ran (; August 25, 1963 – July 11, 1987) was a Goalkeeper (association football), goalkeeper at the Israeli football club Maccabi Haifa F.C., Maccabi Haifa. Widely considered one of the greatest football players in Israel, he had a promising future which was cut short by a fatal accident.
