Austria In The Eurovision Song Contest 2005
Austria participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 with the song "Y así" written by Christof Spörk and Edi Köhldorfer. The song was performed by the group Global Kryner. The Austrian broadcaster Österreichischer Rundfunk (ORF) organised the national final ''Song.Null.Fünf'' in order to select the Austrian entry for the 2005 contest in Kyiv, Ukraine. Five artists and ten songs competed in a televised show where a public vote consisting of regional televoting and mobile phone voting exclusively selected "Y así" performed by Global Kryner as the winner. Austria competed in the semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 19 May 2005. Performing as the opening entry for the show in position 1, "Y así" was not announced among the top 10 entries of the semi-final and therefore did not qualify to compete in the final. Global Kryner
Global Kryner were a six-piece Austrian folk group, consisting of clarinet player Christof Spörk, bass trombonist, tenor and yodeller Sebastian Fuchsberger, guitarist Edi Koehldorfer, trumpet player Karl Rossmann, accordion player Anton Sauprügl, and jazz vocalist Sabine Stieger. Alf Poier (born 22 February 1967 in Judenburg, Styria) is an Austrian artist and stand-up comedian. Biography Born in Judenburg in Styria, he started doing cabaret in 1995 in Graz, and has won several prizes for his work, including the in 1998, the , , German Comedy Awards ''(Best Newcomer)'' in 2000, the Austrian in 2002 and the Austrian in 2009. In 2003, Poier participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 and secured 6th place with his entry '' Weil der Mensch zählt'' (Because humans matter). The song, and his stage act, were a parody of the contest's excesses. Lithuania was represented in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 by "Little by Little" performed by Laura and the Lovers. It was chosen at the Lithuanian National Final on 26 February. The song was written and composed by Swedes Bobby Ljunggren and William "Billy" Butt. The Eurovision Song Contest 2004 was the 49th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Istanbul, Turkey, following the country's victory at the with the song " Everyway That I Can" by Sertab Erener.
