Australian Speedway Hall Of Fame
The Australian Speedway Hall of Fame was inaugurated in 2007 to recognise the contributions made to Australian speedway. In 2006 Speedway Australia formed the National Speedway Induction Committee (NSIC) consisting of competitors, promoters, media members, historians and vintage association members from all mainland states of Australia to nominate and select eligible candidates for induction into the Hall of Fame. The inaugural Hall of Fame dinner was held in the Bradman Room at the Adelaide Oval in 2007. Adelaide Oval
Adelaide Oval is a sports ground in Adelaide, South Australia, located in the parklands between the city centre and North Adelaide. The venue is predominantly used for cricket and Australian rules football, but has also played host to rugby league, rugby union, soccer, tennis among other sports as well as regularly being used to hold concerts. Austadiums.com described Adelaide Oval as being "one of the most picturesque Test cricket grounds in Australia, if not the world." Bluey Wilkinson
Arthur George "Bluey" Wilkinson (27 August 1911 – 27 July 1940) was an international speedway rider. Wilkinson was Speedway World Champion in 1938 after narrowly missing out on winning the inaugural Championship in 1936. Early life Wilkinson was nicknamed "Bluey" because of his red hair (an Australian custom). At the age of four, Bluey's family moved to Bathurst, New South Wales which he really considered to be his home town. He was working as a butcher boy when speedway first started at the Bathurst Sports Ground in 1928. It was love at first sight for Wilkinson and he promptly gave up a promising rugby league career and invested his savings in a battered old belt driven Rudge. John Boulger
John Boulger (born 18 June 1945 in Adelaide, South Australia) is a former international motorcycle speedway rider. After he retired from riding Solos in the early 1980s, Boulger raced somewhat successfully in Speedcars (Midgets) from the mid-1980s until the mid-1990s. Boulger won a record nine South Australian Championships (a record jointly held with 1951 and 1952 World Champion Jack Young) as well as two Australian Solo Championships during his career. As part of the Australian team, John Boulger won one World Championship during his career, this being the 1976 World Team Cup held at the White City Stadium in London, England. Boulger had the honour of captaining the team to Australia's first Speedway World Team Cup victory. Harry Neale (speedway)
Harold Watson Neale (born March 9, 1937) is a Canadian retired NCAA, NHL and WHA coach and general manager, and ice hockey broadcaster. Coaching career Following his playing career, Neale got his head coaching start at Hill Park Secondary School in Hamilton, Ontario, where he also taught social studies and physical education. In 1966, he replaced Glen Sonmor at Ohio State University. While at Ohio State, he was a physical fitness trainer for the Ohio State football team. He coached the Buckeyes for four seasons compiling a 49-48-3 record. He left Ohio State in 1970 to coach junior hockey in Hamilton. Neale was hired as assistant coach of the Minnesota Fighting Saints of the WHA in 1972. He replaced Sonmor again as head coach late in the 1972–73 season. He remained head coach until the Fighting Saints franchise folded during the 1975–76 season. Peter George Dodd (born 31 October 1953) was an Australian politician. He was an Australian Labor Party member of the Australian House of Representatives from 1993 to 1996, representing the Queensland seat of Leichhardt. Dodd was born in Sydney and graduated with degrees in arts and law from the University of New South Wales and in economics from the University of Sydney. He became a solicitor in New South Wales, working for Legal Aid and also serving as an adviser to the then Labor state government. He later moved to Queensland, working for Legal Aid and the Public Trustee in Cairns and operating his own private legal practice there.
