The Attorney General of Kenya is the head of the Kenyan State Law Office, the principal legal adviser to the government of Kenya, and a member of the Cabinet (government), Cabinet. Dorcas Oduor
Dorcas Agik Odhong Oduor (born 12 November 1965) is a Kenyan lawyer who in 2024 became the country's first female Attorney General. Early life and education Dorcas Agik Odhong Oduor was born on 12 November 1965 in Nakuru District. She completed her secondary education at Lwak Girls' High School in 1983. Oduor completed a law degree in 1990, and a postgraduate diploma at the Kenya School of Law in 1991. She was admitted to the Bar in 1992 as an advocate of the High Court. She also has a Master of Arts in International Conflict Management from the University of Nairobi. Career Oduor worked as a lawyer for thirty years, serving in the State Law Office and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. She was the Secretary of Public Prosecutions until 2024. Justin Bedan Njoka Muturi (born 28 April 1956) is a former Attorney General of Kenya who served as the seventh Speaker of the National Assembly of Kenya from 2013 to 2022. He is the first speaker to serve following the reestablishment of a bicameral Parliament by the 2010 Constitution. Githu Muigai (born 31 January 1960) is a Kenyan lawyer who was the Attorney General of the Republic of Kenya until February 13, 2018, when he resigned. He holds a bachelor's degree in law from the University of Nairobi, a master's degree in international law from Columbia University School of Law, and was awarded a doctoral degree in law in November 2002. Amos Wako (born 31 July 1945) is a former Attorney General of Kenya and the first senator for Busia County from 2013 to 2022. Charles Mūgane Njonjo (23 January 1920 – 2 January 2022) was a Kenyan lawyer who served as Attorney General of Kenya from 1963 to 1979, Minister of Constitutional Affairs and the member of Parliament for Kikuyu Constituency from 1980 to 1983. Njonjo was also popularly referred to as "The Duke of Kabeteshire".
