Umbiram is a rural locality in the Toowoomba Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Umbiram had a population of 139 people. History The locality, originally named as Umbirom, takes its name from the railway station name, on the Millmerran railway line, which is an Aboriginal word (possibly from the Gooneburra language) meaning ''winding creek''. Toowoomba Bypass
The Toowoomba Bypass, known as Toowoomba Second Range Crossing during planning and construction, is a grade separated, dual carriageway bypass and partial ring road constructed to the north and west of Toowoomba, Queensland. Construction commenced in April 2016. It opened to traffic on 8 September 2019. History The city of Toowoomba is situated on a plateau on the edge of the Great Dividing Range. A defining characteristic of the city is its high position on an escarpment of the range, which enjoys sweeping views of the Lockyer Valley below. Geography Southbrook is north-east of Pittsworth on the Darling Downs. The Gore Highway passes through the north of the town. History Previously under a pastoral run of Eton Vale, the area was further developed in the 1880s when it was used for dairying and cropping. Biddeston, Queensland
Biddeston is a rural town and locality in the Toowoomba Region, Queensland, Australia. In the the locality of Biddeston had a population of 284 people. History Crosshill State School opened on 9 August 1880 and closed on 1940. A postal receiving office opened on 1 February 1882 and was upgraded to a post office on 1 July 1927. During that time it was run by the Anderson family of Biddeston Farm, which is probably the origin of the district name. The post office closed on 5 January 1965. The town reserve was established on 26 August 1890. In 1880, a 10-acre block of land on the Oakey-Southbrook Road was aside for a school. However, it was not until 14 October 1919 that the Biddeston State School finally opened, but with only a tent for a schoolroom for the 14 children enrolled under teacher Margaret Cecilla Cloherty Anderson.
