Japan National Stadium (2019)
The Japan National Stadium, officially the , alternatively , and a.k.a. formerly is a multi-purpose stadium used mostly for association football in Kasumigaoka, Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan. The facility served as the main stadium for the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as the venue for track and field athletics events at the 2020 Summer Olympics and 2020 Summer Paralympics in 2021. Demolition of the old National Stadium was completed in May 2015, allowing for the construction of the new stadium to begin on 11 December 2016. The original plans for the new stadium were scrapped in July 2015 by Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe, who announced a rebid after a public outcry prompted by increased building costs. As a result, the new design was not ready for the 2019 Rugby World Cup, as originally intended. Maria Strong (born 11 March 1971) is an Australian Paralympic athlete. They won a bronze medal in Women's shot put F33 at the 2020 Summer Paralympics and a gold medal in the Women’s 100m T72 frame running and a silver medal in the Women's Shot Put F33 events at the 2023 World Para Athletics Championships. Renata Śliwińska (born 5 September 1996) is a Polish Paralympic athlete competing in F40-classification discus throw and shot put events. She won the gold medal in the women's shot put F40 event at the 2020 Summer Paralympics held in Tokyo, Japan. In this event, she is also a two-time gold medalist at the World Para Athletics European Championships and a three-time medalist, including gold, at the World Para Athletics Championships. Career In 2016, Śliwińska represented Poland at the Summer Paralympics and she competed in both the women's discus throw F41 and women's shot put F40 events. Mi Na (; born August 5, 1986) is a Chinese Paralympic athlete who competes in throwing events for F37 classification cerebral palsy athletes. Career From April 2014 until September 2016 she held the women's F37 World Record in the shot put. She holds the world record in the F37 discus throw. She won 9 medals (6 Gold) at the Paralympic Games and 12 medals (10 Gold) at the IPC Athletics World Championships. Lisa Adams (athlete)
Lisa Adams (born 18 November 1990) is a New Zealand Paralympic F37 shot putter and F38 discus thrower. Adams competed at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan, and won a gold medal in Women's shot put F37, setting 4 Paralympics records in the process. Early life and athletic career Adams was born and grew up in Rotorua, New Zealand. She was diagnosed with left hemiplegia, a form of cerebral palsy, at an early age. She played netball and basketball when she was growing up, and played rugby with the Waikite women's able-bodied team in 2017. In 2018 she became the first woman to play with the New Zealand men's national team at the Physical Disability Rugby League (PDRL) Commonwealth Championship.
