Thomas Munkelt
Thomas Munkelt (born 3 August 1952) is a retired East German athlete, winner of 110 m hurdles at the 1980 Summer Olympics. Born in Zedtlitz, Bezirk Leipzig, East Germany, Thomas Munkelt was a classic high hurdler who dominated European hurdling in the 1970s and early 1980s. Munkelt was the first athlete to break the 7.50 seconds barrier in the 60 m hurdles, when he ran a 7.48 seconds World Record in Budapest in 1983. Munkelt came into the international athletics scene in 1975 when he won his first of nine East German national championship title and European Cup in 110 m hurdles. Although he finished disappointing fifth at the 1976 Summer Olympics, he won both World Cup and European Cup in 1977. The first international championships medal came, when Munkelt finished first at the 1978 European Championships. Anatoliy Moshiashvili
Anatoliy Moshiashvili (born 11 March 1950 in Kutaisi, died on 14 August 2018 in Serbia) was a Georgian male former track and field hurdler who competed in the 110 metres hurdles for the Soviet Union. His greatest achievement was a 60 metres hurdles gold medal at the 1974 European Athletics Indoor Championships, which he won in a championship record time. His winning time of 7.66 seconds still remains the Georgian national record for the event. Among his other international performances were silver medals at the 1973 European Cup and 1973 Summer Universiade, as well as bronze medals at the 1968 European Junior Games, 1972 European Athletics Indoor Championships, and fourth place at the 1971 European Athletics Championships. He was a five-time national champion, having won the 60 m hurdles three times straight at the Soviet Indoor Athletics Championships from 1972 to 1974, in addition to the outdoor title at the Soviet Athletics Championships in 1971 and 1973. Berwyn Price
Berwyn Price (born 15 August 1951) is a Welsh former international athlete who competed at the 1972 Summer Olympics and 1976 Summer Olympics. Biography Price was born in Tredegar, Monmouthshire, and studied at Lewis School, Pengam and the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth. A member of the Cardiff Amateur Athletic Club, Price was three-times runner up at the AAA Championships in 1970 behind David Hemery and 1971 and 1972 behind Alan Pascoe before representing Great Britain at the 1972 Olympics Games in Munich. He finally became the British 110 metres hurdles champion after winning the British title at the 1973 AAA Championships and would go on to retain it every year from 1974 to 1978. Price won the silver medal in the 110-metre hurdles at the 1974 British Commonwealth Games and the gold medal in the same event at the 1978 Commonwealth Games. Norman R. Morrison (December 29, 1933 – November 2, 1965) was an American anti-war activist. On November 2, 1965, Morrison doused himself in kerosene and set himself on fire below the office of Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara at the Pentagon to protest United States involvement in the Vietnam War, leading to his death. This action was inspired by photographs of Vietnamese children burned by napalm bombings, and may have been inspired by Thích Quảng Đức and other Buddhist monks, who burned themselves to death to protest the repression committed by the South Vietnam government of Catholic President Ngo Dinh Diem. Danijel Korica (Serbian Cyrillic: Данијел Корица, born 10 June 1945), better known by his nickname ''Dane'' in his home country, is a Serbian retired long-distance runner who competed for Yugoslavia in the 1972 Summer Olympics. He is regarded as one of the greatest ever distance-runners from the areas of former Yugoslavia. Early life Korica was born in Kutina to a family of six children.
