Association Of East Asian Research Universities
The Association of East Asian Research Universities (AEARU) is an East Asian organisation comprising 19 research universities. It was established in January 1996 at the suggestion of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. The purpose of the organisation is to promote regional exchange and cooperation among member institutions, and to open a forum where leading East Asian universities may share research results. The University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) is a public university in Hefei, China. It is affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and co-funded by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, Ministry of Education of China, and the Anhui Provincial Government. It is part of Project 211, Project 985, and the Double First-Class Construction. The university was founded in Beijing by the Chinese Academy of Sciences in September 1958. The League of European Research Universities (LERU) is a consortium of European research universities. History and overview The League of European Research Universities (LERU) is an association of research-intensive universities. Founded in 2002 as a partnership among twelve multi-faculty research universities, in 2024 its membership expanded to twenty-four. As the latest addition, ETH Zurich joined the alliance on 1 January 2024. The purpose of the League is to influence policy in Europe and to develop best practice through mutual exchange of experience.
