Football in Panama is run by the Federación Panameña de Fútbol. The association administers the national football team, as well as the LPF. Football is the second most popular sport in Panama. Gary Stempel
Gary Stempel (born 26 January 1957) is a Panamanian Association football, football Coach (sport), manager. Career Prior to his move to Panama, Stempel was a community outreach officer with London club Millwall F.C., Millwall. He enjoyed his greatest success as at club level in a four-year spell as manager of San Francisco F.C., San Francisco, a Panamanian football club, during which he won five Liga Panameña de Fútbol, league titles and two championships with Panama Viejo. It was during this time that he was also given charge of the Panama under-20 and under-23 teams. He qualified Panama to its first-ever 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship, U-20 World Cup in 2003. Tauro FC
The Tauro Fútbol Club is a professional soccer club based in the district of Pedregal east of Panama City, Panama. It was founded on 22 September 1984 and has participated in the Panamanian Football League (LPF) since 1988. Its founder, Giancarlo Gronchi, was a fan of Juventus and for that reason the colours of the club and uniform are black and white. They have won thirteen championships between 1989 and 2017, making them the most successful club in the league. The Estadio Olímpico Rommel Fernández Gutiérrez, named after the Panamanian football star Rommel Fernández (1966–1993), is a multi-purpose stadium in Panama City. The 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup was the 12th CONCACAF Gold Cup competition and the 22nd CONCACAF regional championship overall in CONCACAF's fifty years of existence. The United States was the host nation. The competition began on July 7, 2013, at the Rose Bowl (stadium), Rose Bowl, and ended with the final on July 28, 2013, at Soldier Field, with the United States defeating Panama 1–0. In this edition of the Gold Cup, Mexico participated with an alternative squad due to the main players competing at the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup prior to the Gold Cup.
