Google Assistant is a virtual assistant software application developed by Google that is primarily available on mobile and home automation devices. Based on artificial intelligence, Google Assistant can engage in two-way conversations, unlike the company's previous virtual assistant, Google Now. Google Assistant debuted in May 2016 as part of Google's messaging app Allo, and its voice-activated speaker Google Home. After a period of exclusivity on the Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones, it was deployed on other Android devices starting in February 2017, including third-party smartphones and Android Wear (now Wear OS), and was released as a standalone app on the iOS operating system in May 2017. The Office Assistant is a discontinued intelligent user interface for Microsoft Office that assisted users by way of an interactive animated character which interfaced with the Office help content. It was included in Microsoft Office for Windows (versions 97 to 2003), in Microsoft Publisher and Microsoft Project (versions 98 to 2003), Microsoft FrontPage (versions 2002 and 2003), and Microsoft Office for Mac (versions 98 to 2004). The default assistant in the English version was named Clippit (commonly nicknamed Clippy), after a paperclip. The character was designed by Kevan J. Atteberry. Clippit was the default and by far the most notable Assistant (partly because in many cases the setup CD was required to install the other assistants), which also led to it being called simply the Microsoft Paperclip. Assistant is an intelligent personal assistant application for mobile devices developed by Speaktoit. Originally launched in October 2011 for the Android platform (although available in beta in March 2011), Assistant had since come to iOS and Windows Phones. Assistant used natural language processing and speech recognition to interact with its users and was able to have clarifying conversations. Unlike Apple's Siri, Assistant came in the form of a customizable, cartoonish avatar. ''The New York Times'' recognized Assistant as one of the top 10 Android Apps of 2011. Assistant had over 13+ million users in 11 different languages as of October 2014. It was the No. 6 top grossing app in the Lifestyle category on Google Play in the US. ''The Assistant'' is a reality television show that parodied other reality shows such as ''The Apprentice'', '' The Bachelor'', ''The Bachelorette'', '' Survivor'', ''American Idol'', and ''Fear Factor''. Its eight episodes originally aired on MTV. It featured comedian Andy Dick's search for a new personal assistant. The beginning of the first episode parodied ''The Bachelor'', with the twelve contestants arriving in limousines, and Dick waiting outside to greet them with his maid and butler.
