Somewhere Far Beyond
''Somewhere Far Beyond'' is the fourth studio album by the German power metal band Blind Guardian. It was released in 1992 and produced by Kalle Trapp. The cover artwork was created by Andreas Marschall, who also drew the artwork for other Blind Guardian's releases ('' Tales from the Twilight World'', ''Nightfall in Middle-Earth'', etc.). The album saw the band creating its own original sound, while still employing most of their speed/power metal techniques. The cover art and the two "Bard's Songs" gave the band its nickname "The Bards". The use of the nickname has been also extended to the fans of the group, Circle of the Bards being the now defunct fan club, and Hansi Kürsch frequently calling the fans "Bards". "The Piper's Calling" contains the first three parts of the Great Highland Bagpipe 2/4 March, "The 79th's Farewell to Gibraltar", written by Pipe Major John MacDonald of the 79th Regiment of Foot (Cameronian Volunteers). Part of this composition also appears as a sect ...

It was reissued on January 8, 1998. Background and music When asked about the song, Billy Gould replied: In 1997, keyboardist Roddy Bottum said he thought the song's slow, heavy and "hypnotic" sound harkened back to the band's early days in the 1980s, while singer Mike Patton described it as having a cinematic sound. Music video The music video for "Ashes to Ashes" was shot in Los Angeles during 1997, with British director Tim Royes. Critical response ''Ashes to Ashes'' was met with generally favorable reviews from music critics. Jonah Weiner of ''Rolling Stone'' gave the mixtape three out of five stars, saying "On this mixtape — too uneven to match the gruff grandeur of 2010's Teflon Don, but featuring some thunderous production by Lex Luger and Boi-1da — Ross brags with such actorly gusto you don't really notice (or care) how little sense he makes: "I'm smokin' dope! I'm on my cellphone!" he roars on "9 Piece". That shouldn't sound impressive, but with Ross pitching it, it does." Tom Breihan of Pitchfork Media gave the mixtape a 7.1 out of ten, saying "The tape moves from bangers to slick, more meditative tracks before returning to bangers, and it might w ...
