Palaiseau
Palaiseau () is a commune in the southern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located from the centre of Paris. Palaiseau is a sub-prefecture of the Essonne department and the seat of the Arrondissement of Palaiseau. Palaiseau was a royal domain in the 6th century then again in the 18th century on the important road from Chartres to Paris. The population grew from the 19th century with the arrival of the railway connecting the town to Paris. Palaiseau then became a vacation spot, writers such as George Sand, Alexandre Dumas, Charles Péguy built their villas near the stations. A ranking from the newspaper ''Le Parisien'' in 2018 ranks Palaiseau as the third town in Essonne where it is good to be a parent. Gometz-la-Ville () is a French communes in the Essonne department in the southern suburbs of Paris (25 km) from the center of Paris. Inhabitants of Gometz-la-Ville are named ''Gometziens''. Geography The village is near Les Ulis, Limours, Gif-sur-Yvette and Gometz-le-Châtel, along the old road from Paris to Chartres, crossing the Hurepoix. History * A train line was built from Paris to Chartres via Gallardon, at the beginning of the 20th century, with a station in the nearby town of Gometz-le-Châtel. Gif-sur-Yvette (, "Gif-on- Yvette") is a commune in southwestern ÃŽle-de-France, France. It is located in the Vallée de Chevreuse, from the centre of Paris (at Notre-Dame), in the Essonne department on the departmental border with Yvelines. In 2021, it had a population of 22,352.
