''Arnoglossum ovatum'', the ovateleaf cacalia, is a species of plant in the sunflower family. It is native to the southeastern and south-central United States from southern North Carolina to Florida and eastern Texas. The family Asteraceae, alternatively Compositae, consists of over 32,000 known species of flowering plants in over 1,900 genera within the order Asterales. Senecioneae is the largest tribe of the Asteraceae, or the sunflower family, comprising over 150 genera and over 3,500 species. Almost one-third of the species in this tribe are placed in the genus '' Senecio''.
