Antoine Arnauld
Antoine Arnauld (; 6 February 16128 August 1694) was a French Catholic theologian, priest, philosopher and mathematician. He was one of the leading intellectuals of the Jansenist group of Port-Royal and had a very thorough knowledge of patristics. Contemporaries called him ''le Grand'' to distinguish him from his father. Biography Antoine Arnauld was born in Paris to the Arnauld family. The twentieth and youngest child of the original Antoine Arnauld, he was originally intended for the bar, but decided instead to study theology at the Sorbonne. Here he was brilliantly successful, and his career was flourishing when he came under the influence of Jean du Vergier de Hauranne, the spiritual director and leader of the convent of Port-Royal, and was drawn in the direction of Jansenism. Antoine Arnauld (lawyer)
Antoine Arnauld (6 August 1560, Paris – 29 December 1619, Paris) was a lawyer in the Parlement de Paris, and a Counsellor of State under Henry IV. Life Antoine Arnauld was the son of the general advocate of Catherine de' Medici. Raised a Protestant, he is thought to have converted to Catholicism after the St. Bartholomew's Day massacre. A skilled orator, his most famous speech was in 1594 in favor of the University of Paris and against the Jesuits, decrying their lack of support for Henry IV, newly converted from Protestantism to Catholicism. He wrote a number of political pamphlets which were widely distributed. The best known of his writings is entitled ''Le franc et véritable discours du Roi sur le rétablissement qui lui est demandé des Jésuites'' (1602). He was married to Catherine Marion de Druy, daughter of Simon Marion, baron de Druy, advocate general of Henry IV. They had twenty children, ten of whom survived him. Lothar Von Arnauld De La Perière
'' Vizeadmiral'' Lothar von Arnauld de la Perière (; 18 March 1886 – 24 February 1941), born in Posen, Prussia, and of French-German descent, was a German U-boat commander during World War I. With 194 ships and sunk, he is the most successful submarine captain ever. His victories came in the Mediterranean, almost always using his 8.8 cm deck gun. During his career, he fired 74 torpedoes, hitting 39 times. Arnauld de la Perière remained in the German Navy ('' Reichsmarine'') after the war ended. Marie Angélique Arnauld
Jacqueline-Marie-Angélique Arnauld, S.O.Cist. or Arnault, called La Mère Angélique (8 September 1591, in Paris – 6 August 1661, in Port-Royal-des-Champs), was abbess of the Abbey of Port-Royal, which became a center of Jansenism under her abbacy. Henri Arnauld
Henri Arnauld (1597–1692) was a French Catholic bishop. Arnauld was born in Paris, and was first destined for the Bar, but was taken to Rome by Cardinal Bentivoglio and during this absence, which lasted five years, the court granted him (1624) the Abbey of Saint-Nicholas. In 1637 the Chapter of Toul offered him the bishopric of Toul, and the king, at the recommendation of Father Joseph, confirmed the choice. He was obliged to wait three years for his Bulls, which were delayed by the difficulties between the court and the Holy See. Carol Arnauld
Carol Arnauld (28 March 1961 – 9 September 2022) was a French singer and songwriter. She sang in the late 1980s and can be deemed as a one-hit wonder in France with her hit single "C'est pas facile...", released in September 1986. The song reached number 10 on the SNEP chart, stayed in the top 50 for 16 weeks and was certified Silver disc for 250,000 copies sold. Agnès Arnauld
Mother Agnès Arnauld, Cistercians, S.O.Cist. (1593–1672), was the Abbess of the Abbey of Port-Royal, near Paris, and a major figure in French Jansenism. She was born Jeanne-Catherine-Agnès Arnauld, a member of the Arnauld family, sister of Antoine Arnauld (1612-1694), Antoine Arnauld, "le Grand Arnauld" and of Mother Angélique Arnauld. She succeeded Angélique as head of the abbey in 1658, thus leading it during the most repressive anti-Jansenist period. She organised the movement against signing the Formulary of Alexander VII and for this was confronted by Hardouin de Péréfixe de Beaumont, Hardouin de Péréfixe, the Archbishop of Paris. She was also the author of the ''Constitutions'' of Port-Royal, a text which reformed the material and spiritual rule of the abbey in a spirit of Cistercian renewal. Bibliography

Isaac Arnauld
Isaac Arnauld (1566 – 14 October 1617), seigneur de Corbeville, was a member of the Arnauld family, a French family which during the 17th century produced several major Jansenists. Arnauld Mercier (born 4 June 1972) is a French football manager and a former player. He spent most of his career playing in the French Ligue 2 and Championnat National, but had a spell in Italy where he played three seasons in Serie B.
