Arna Bontemps
Arna Wendell Bontemps ( ) (October 13, 1902 – June 4, 1973) was an American poet, novelist and librarian, and a noted member of the Harlem Renaissance. Early life Bontemps was born in 1902 in Alexandria, Louisiana, into a Louisiana Creole people, Louisiana Creole family. His ancestors included free people of color and French colonists. His father was a contractor and sometimes would take his son to construction sites. As the boy got older, his father would take him along to speak-easies at night that featured jazz. Arna Church
Arna Church () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Bergen Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Indre Arna. It is one of two churches in the Arna parish which is part of the Åsane prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The white, stone church was built in a long church design in 1864 using plans drawn up by the architect Frederik Hannibal Stockfleth. The church seats about 280 people. History In 1861, a cemetery was built in Arna, and soon after, planning began for a church at the cemetery. Frederik Hannibal Stockfleth was hired to design the new church and a man named Wangberg was hired as the lead builder. The church was completed in 1864, a date that is prominently displayed on the side of the church, and it was consecrated in 1865. The church received its first organ in 1912. ''Arna'', commonly styled as ''ARNA'', is an annual literary journal published by the University of Sydney Arts Students Society. Originally named ''The Arts Journal of the University of Sydney'', it was published regularly between 1918 and 1974 under the auspices of the Faculty of Arts and in 1938 the journal was renamed ''The ARNA: The Journal of the Arts Society''. Publishing of the journal ceased unexpectedly in 1974. After a hiatus of 34 years, publication recommenced in 2008 with the revival of the Sydney Arts Students' Society. Arna Township, Pine County, Minnesota
Arna Township is a township in Pine County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 86 at the 2000 census. History Arna Township was founded on March 11, 1910. Its name was proposed by a county auditor by the name of W.H. Hamlin. Early settlers to the area were attracted by land sales and the lumber industry. In 1912 the Soo Line Railroad passed through Arna Township, and the community of Markville sprang up with the railroad.
