Army Of Bangladesh
The Bangladesh Army () is the land warfare branch, and the largest component of the Bangladesh Armed Forces. The primary mission of the Army is to defend the land of Bangladesh from any external attack. Control of personnel and operations is administered by the Army Headquarters, Dhaka Cantonment. The Bangladesh Army is also constitutionally obligated to assist the government, during times of domestic national emergency e.g. the army helps people during any natural calamity. This additional role is commonly referred to as "aid to civil administration" or, using the Latin form, "Protectio, Transparentia, Reintegratio", in other words, "Protect and Serve". The 2015 Bangladesh–Arakan Army border clash took place on 25 and 26 August 2015 in the Bandarban District, near the Bangladesh–Myanmar border, after several insurgents of the Arakan Army (Kachin State), Arakan Army attacked members of Border Guards Bangladesh. Waker-Uz-Zaman
Waker-Uz-Zaman (born 16 September 1966) is a four-star general of the Bangladesh Army who is the incumbent Chief of Army Staff. Earlier, he was the Chief of General Staff at Army Headquarters and the 15th Principal Staff Officer of Armed Forces Division. Just over a month of his tenure amid the Student–People's uprising, he announced the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on 5 August 2024. General () is a Four-star rank, four star general officer rank in the Bangladesh Army. It is the highest achieved rank in the Bangladesh Army. General ranks above the Three-star rank, three star rank of Lieutenant general (Bangladesh), Lieutenant general. Mohammed Shahabuddin (born 10 December 1949) is a Bangladeshi jurist, journalist, civil servant and politician who has served as the 16th and current president of Bangladesh since 2023. Bir Bikrom
Bir Bikrom () is the third highest gallantry award in Bangladesh. Like the other gallantry awards, this was introduced immediately after the Bangladeshi Liberation War. Bir Bikrom was awarded to 175 fighters. Recipients 175 fighters have been awarded on 15 December 1973 for their heroic actions at the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971. The government of Bangladesh declared the name of the awardees in Bangladesh Gazette on 15 December 1973. This list has been prepared on the base of the Gazette. Bir Uttom
Bir Uttom () is the second highest award for individual gallantry in Bangladesh after the Bir Sreshtho and the highest gallantry award for living individual. Since the independence of Bangladesh in 1971, 69 people have been awarded the Bir Uttom. Recipients This award was declared on 15 December 1973. A total of 67 people have been rewarded for their bravery and dedication in the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971. Lieutenant G. M. Mushfiqur Rahman Bir Uttam (1966–1989) was posted in 1 Field Artillery Regiment of Bangladesh Army in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. On 8 September 1989, he led a 17-member team of Bangladesh Army soldiers and attacked a terrorist Shanti Bahini camp. Lieutenant Rahman was injured during the clash and he died on 8 September 1989 at 8.15 am. The Bir Sreshtho (; ), is the highest military award of Bangladesh. It was awarded to seven freedom fighters who showed utmost bravery and died in action for their nation. They are considered martyrs. The other three gallantry awards are named, in decreasing order of importance, Bir Uttom, Bir Bikrom and Bir Protik. All of these awards were introduced immediately after the Liberation War in 1971.
