Aref Ensemble
The Aref Ensemble (in Persian: گروه عارف) was a Persian classical music ensemble. It was founded by maestro Parviz Meshkatian, Hossein Alizadeh, and Mohammad Reza Lotfi in 1977. The group was named after Aref Ghazvini, early 20th century Iranian poet and composer. Aref was dedicated to the promotion and advancement of Persian classical music. To some critics the Aref Ensemble, together with the Sheyda Ensemble (also founded by Meshkatian), revolutionised Persian music. In 1992 Meshkatian and the Aref Ensemble won first prize in the ''Spirit of the Earth Festival'' in England. Persian traditional music or Iranian traditional music, also known as Persian classical music or Iranian classical music, refers to the classical music of Iran (historically known as '' Persia''). Zoufonoun Ensemble
The Zoufonoun Ensemble was an American Persian classical music group, consisting of Mahmoud Zoufonoun (violin) and his four sons Amir Zoufonoun (vocals, setar), Ramin Zoufonoun (tar, Persian-tuned piano), Amin Zoufonoun (setar), and Omid Zoufonoun (cello). The ensemble was based in the San Francisco Bay Area. History A variety of percussionists have performed with the group, including Shahram Kazemi, Houman Pourmehdi, and Siamak Pouyan. The group performs large-scale suites composed by Mahmoud Zoufonoun while presenting vocal and instrumental improvisations by each member. Notable among these compositions is ''Naghde Sufi'' (suite in the mode of Rastpanjgah), and ''Fash Migooyam'' (suite in the mode of Chahargah). The Chemirani ensemble is a notable Persian classical music ensemble. The group is made of Chemirani family: *Bijan Chemirani *Djamchid Chemirani *Keyvan Chemirani *Maryam Chemirani In 1988, the Chemirani Trio (Bijan, Keyvan and Jamshid) was born and their special chemistry and peerless virtuosity has popularised the zarb. Djamchid Chemirani was born in Tehran in 1942. he has studied the zarb, also called the tombak, since the age of eight. His teacher was Hossein Tehrani. Under Tehrani's demanding tutelage, Chemirani made rapid progress and soon became a brilliant player. Masters of Persian Music is a Persian classical music Musical ensemble, ensemble (or "Supergroup (music), supergroup") founded in 2000 by four internationally recognized ''ustāds'' (masters) of the genre: vocalist Mohammad-Reza Shajarian; composer-musicians Hossein Alizâdeh and Kayhan Kalhor; and Mr. Shajarian's son, multi-instrumentalist singer Homayoun Shajarian. The ensemble formed with a view to touring Europe and North America (where Kayhan Kalhor has lived for much of his adult life). Alireza Eftekhari
Ali Reza Eftekhari (; born March 30, 1958) is an Iranian vocalist of Iranian classical and popular music. He is one of the most popular singers in Iran and his works are among the best-selling works of Iranian music. This singer has released more than seventy music albums so far.  He is known as the man of a thousand faces of Iranian music. He is one of the few artists that have gained the respect and admiration of classical music lovers everywhere. It is refreshing to see younger artists continue to present beautiful classical Iranian music to the younger generation. Hamid Reza Noorbakhsh (also spelt Nourbakhsh) is a Persian classical vocalist and musician. Shahram Nazeri
Shahram Nazeri (, ; born 18 February 1950) is a contemporary Iranian tenor of Kurdish origin from Kermanshah, Iran, who sings Sufi music, classical and traditional Kurdish and Persian music. He has been accompanied by some of the masters of Iranian traditional music such as Jalil Shahnaz, Hossein Alizadeh, Jalal Zolfonoun, Parviz Meshkatian and Faramarz Payvar. He has also worked with his son Hafez, a composer. Nazeri was the first musician to include Rumi's poetry within Persian music, thus establishing a tradition of Sufi music within both Persian classical music and Kurdish music. Career Shahram Nazeri has been established as a significant artist in Iran since the 1970s. His first albums which were in the form of mutual albums with Mohammad-Reza Shajarian, were published by the Chavoush institute by the end of the late 1970s. Parviz Meshkatian
Parviz Meshkatian (Persian: پرويز مشكاتيان; May 15, 1955 – September 21, 2009) was an Iranian musician, composer, researcher and university lecturer. Biography Born in Neyshabur, Meshkatian entered the Tehran Academy of Arts, where he studied music theory and was introduced to ''radif'' (the Persian classical music repertoire) by the masters Nur-Ali Boroumand, Dariush Safvat, Mohammad Taghi Massoudieh, and Mehdi Barkeshli. He focused on the ''radif'' of Mirza Abdollah for santur and setar. In 1977, Meshkatian cofounded the Aref Ensemble. Meshkatian toured Europe and Asia and regularly performed. In the spring of 1982 he published the book ''Twenty Pieces for Santour''. While continuing his work as a composer and a researcher, Meshkatian was teaching music at Tehran University. Mohammad Reza Shajarian
Mohammad-Reza Shajarian (; , 23 September 1940 – 8 October 2020) was an Iranian singer and master ('' Ostad'') of Persian traditional music. He was also known for his skills in Persian calligraphy and humanitarian activities. Shajarian started his singing career in 1959 at Radio Khorasan, rising to prominence in the 1960s with his distinct singing style. Shajarian was one of the very few singers who managed to get permission to sing publicly after the 1979 revolution. In fact, right before 1979 there was an abundance of excellent singers like Iraj, Golpa, Hayedeh, whom Shajarian was far from being able to compete with due to lack of talent.
