Current Album Sales
The ''Billboard'' charts tabulate the relative weekly popularity of songs and albums in the United States and elsewhere. The results are published in ''Billboard'' magazine. ''Billboard'' biz, the online extension of the ''Billboard'' charts, provides additional weekly charts, as well as year-end charts. The three most important charts are the ''Billboard'' Global 200 for songs globally, the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 for songs in the United States of America and the ''Billboard'' 200 for albums in the United States of America, and other charts may be dedicated to a specific genre such as R&B, country, or rock, or they may cover all genres. The charts can be ranked according to sales, streams, or airplay, and for main song charts such as the Hot 100 or Global 200 (though the latter globally) song chart, all three data are used to compile the charts. For the ''Billboard'' 200 album chart, streams and track sales are included in addition to album sales. The weekly sales and streams ... XL Recordings
XL Recordings is a British independent record label founded in 1989 by Tim Palmer and Nick Halkes. It has been run and co-owned by Richard Russell since 1996. It forms part of the Beggars Group. It releases an average of six albums a year. The label releases albums worldwide and operates across a range of genres. History 1980s and 1990s Originally launched in 1989 to release rave and dance music, the label began as an imprint of Beggars Banquet's more commercial dance label Citybeat, which was known for records by acts such as Freeez, Rob Base & EZ Rock, Starlight, Dream Frequency and the Ultramagnetic MCs. However, with the success of acts such as the Prodigy and SL2, XL superseded Citybeat in its lineup. During the early 1990s, XL releases were dance-oriented, ranging from Belgian techno ( T99's "Anasthasia") to breakbeat hardcore (SL2's " On a Ragga Tip") to drum and bass ( Jonny L's "I'm Leavin'"). This period of XL's history has been recorded on the '' XL Recordings ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

It is the first studio album to feature lead vocals by Arca herself, sung in her native language of Spanish. It was released to universal acclaim from critics. Background On 28 February 2016, Ghersi announced via Instagram that her new album would be titled ''Reverie'' and was almost finished, although on 22 February 2017, she announced that the album would in fact be self-titled ''Arca''. She explained in an interview for ''i-D'' magazine that she didn't want the album to be eponymous, it's more that every other name felt wrong: "I went through a whole year of trying different names, they all felt foreign. But because I use my singing voice in a way that I've never done before, it didn't feel unnatural to call it ''Arca''." The use of her voice on the new album was inspired by collaborator and friend, Björk: I don't know if I would've ever sung on this record if i ... Mutant (album)
''Mutant'' is the second studio album by Venezuelan electronic music producer Arca, released on 20 November 2015 via Mute. Arca called it a chronicle of "sensuality and impulsiveness as escape routes out of rigidity". Labeled noise, trap, industrial, and experimental, it was promoted with four singles, critically acclaimed upon release, and ranked as Tiny Mix Tapes' favorite album of 2015. Composition ''The Independent'' described ''Mutant'' as an album of "intricately layered sound collages" in which Arca employs mostly machine-made textures "to convey extremes of emotion – be it euphoria, menace, paranoia, melancholy." Sam Richards of '' NME'' wrote that while Arca was clearly influenced by R&B, hip hop and dubstep, they distort and subvert these "familiar aural cues", "never allowing heirbeats to lock into conventional grooves." They commented that "Sever" and "Faggot" use elements of trap, while the calm interludes "Else" and "Extent" act as counterpoints to the re ... LP Record
The LP (from long playing or long play) is an Analog recording, analog sound storage medium, specifically a phonograph record format characterized by: a speed of revolutions per minute, rpm; a 12- or 10-inch (30- or 25-cm) diameter; use of the "microgroove" groove specification; and a vinyl (a copolymer of vinyl chloride acetate) composition disk. Introduced by Columbia Records in 1948, it was soon adopted as a new standard by the entire US record industry and, apart from a few relatively minor refinements and the important later addition of stereophonic sound in 1957, it remained the standard format for record albums during a period in popular music known as the album era. LP was originally a trademark of Columbia and competed against the smaller 7-inch sized Single (music), "45" or "single" format by RCA Victor, eventually ending up on top. Today in the vinyl revival era, a large majority of records are based on the LP format and hence the LP name continues to be in use ... Xen (album)
''Xen'' is the debut studio album by Venezuelan electronic musician Arca, released on 4 November 2014 through Mute Records. The album was recorded over a largely improvised six-month period in 2014. Background The title of the album is a reference to Ghersi's "feminine spirit" as portrayed in the album artwork and videos. According to the artist, the designer Jesse Kanda asked "if I had a girl's name when I was a kid, I told him that I have this image in my head when I listen to a song of mine that I really love or that I feel happy with. I move really slowly in a very effeminate way ndclose my eyes and I see this naked being who exists in front of an audience. Everyone is simultaneously attracted to it and repulsed". Upon reflection she felt that "Those were all projections of my psyche; of how I viewed my own sexuality and how I engaged with people through the lens of sensuality. ''Xen'' is an 'it'. I lean towards calling ''Xen'' 'her' in response to the fact that society hi ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |
