apr Co., Ltd. stylized as äpr, is a Japanese racing team competing in the GT300 class of Super GT as well as in Super Taikyu. The team also manufactures and sells parts for automobiles and motorcycles. History Originally it was the racing division of Apex company, but as it's business expanded, it became a fully independent corporation in 2000 and was rebranded as "apr". In 1998, the company began participating in the GT300 class of the JGTC (All Japan GT Championship) (SUPER GT from 2005) as a constructor with the Toyota MR2. After winning the championship in 1999, the following year, the company began developing cars with the support of TRD. In 2001, the company was also in charge of operations for ARTA's GT300 team. In 2003, the company was also responsible for the design and development of the ASL Garaiya GT300 car when the car participated in the race. ASL Garaiya
The is a mid-engined concept sports car developed by ASL, the car manufacturing arm of Autobacs Seven. History Autobacs Seven first announced the Garaiya on 4 December 2001 as their first sports car offering. The car's name apparently comes from that of a thief from the Ming dynasty who shared his stolen wares with those who were less well off. The car was styled by Noriyuki Nishida and engineered by Kikuo Kaira, known for his work on the Tommykaira ZZ. The Garaiya was first shown off to the public at the 2002 Tokyo Auto Salon, alongside the ASL RS01. The Garaiya was set to enter production in fall 2002 with a planned production volume of 100 cars a year at a price of ¥6,500,000 each. Tsuchiya Engineering is a team located in Fujisawa, Kanagawa, founded by Haruo Tsuchiya, and now ran by his son, Takeshi Tsuchiya, Takeshi. Origins Haruo Tsuchiya used to work at TOMEI Automotive, before leaving in 1971 to create his own shop and team. The team initially competed in local touring car races, before entering Japanese Touring Car Championship, JTC, where it won the Division-3 title twice, in 1989 and 1990 Japanese Touring Car Championship, 1990. Tsuchiya later entered JGTC, and not long after, in 1998 All Japan Grand Touring Car Championship, 1998, they set a record-breaking season. The 2013 Autobacs Super GT Series was the twenty-first season of the Japan Automobile Federation Super GT Championship including the All Japan Grand Touring Car Championship (JGTC) era, and the ninth season under the name Super GT. It marked the thirty-first season overall of a Japanese professional sportscar championship dating back to the All Japan Sports Prototype Championship. It was the final year of the GT500 regulations introduced in 2010 as the 2014 season would see unified technical regulations with the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters. The 2012 Autobacs Super GT Series was the twentieth season of the Japan Automobile Federation Super GT Championship including the All Japan Grand Touring Car Championship (JGTC) era and the eighth season as the Super GT series. It also marked the thirtieth season of a JAF-sanctioned sports car racing championship dating back to the All Japan Sports Prototype Championship. is a Japanese racing driver. Racing career The son of Koei Saga, a senior official at Toyota Gazoo Racing, Saga began kart racing in 1999. In his early career, Saga raced single seaters, such as Formula Toyota and the Japanese Formula 3 Championship. He competed in the Macau Grand Prix in 2008 and 2009 and has competed in Super Taikyu. He competed in Super Formula for four years with no success. Saga began competing in Super GT in 2006; due to his ties to Toyota, he has only driven Toyota or Lexus vehicles in his Super GT career.
