Apiary (board Game)
''Apiary'' is a tile-based strategy game designed by Connie Vogelmann and published in 2023 by Stonemaier Games. Players control a faction of spacefaring bees as they explore, gather resources, and advance their hive before hibernation. Publishing history ''Apiary'' was the design debut of Connie Vogelmann and was illustrated by Kwanchai Moriya. It was first available for digital purchase from the Stonemaier Games website and at the 2023 Essen Spiel before its retail release in November of 2023. Gameplay ''Apiary'' is played on one shared board with sections such as an exploration map where the "QueenShip" token can be moved around through space, the "Hibernation Comb" where advanced bees are placed into hibernation, and locations for advancement tiles, carving tiles, and Seed Cards, representing the different actions a player can take on their turn. Stonemaier Games
Stonemaier Games is an American board game publishing company founded in 2012 by Jamey Stegmaier and Alan Stone. It is known for the games ''Viticulture'', ''Wingspan'', and ''Scythe''. History Stonemaier Games was founded in St. Louis, Missouri, by Jamey Stegmaier, a student at Washington University in St. Louis, and Alan Stone. In 2012, Stegmaier and Stone crowdfunded funds for the publication of their first game,''Viticulture,'' on Kickstarter, earning about $65,000 from supporters. For legal reasons, they formed a limited liability company titled "Stonemaier Inc.", which would allow them both to self-publish games that they designed and games from other designers. A tile-based game is a game that uses tiles as one of the fundamental elements of play. Traditional tile-based games use small tiles as playing pieces for gambling or entertainment games. Internationale Spieltage SPIEL, often called the Essen Game Fair after the city where it is held, is an annual four-day public boardgame trade fair held in October (Thursday to the following Sunday) at the Messe Essen exhibition centre in Essen, Germany.
