Apertura 2023 Liga MX Final Phase
The Apertura 2023 Liga MX final phase was played between 22 November and 17 December 2023. A total of ten teams competed in the final phase to decide the champions of the Apertura 2023 Liga MX season. On 22 May 2023, a modification for the final phase was announced at the owners assembly in Toluca; reducing the clubs from twelve to ten. The number of clubs qualifying for the quarter-finals was increased from four to six while the teams qualifying for the reclassification was reduced from six to four. The four clubs qualified for the reclassification competed in the "play-in" round, a tournament modeled after the NBA play-in tournament. The Clausura 2023 Liga MX final phase was played between 6 May and 28 May 2023. A total of twelve teams competed in the final phase to decide the champions of the Clausura 2023 Liga MX season. For the sixth straight season, an additional qualifying round, the reclassification or ''repechaje'', was employed, which expanded the number of final phase spots to twelve. The winners of the reclassification matches advanced to the quarter-finals of the ''liguilla'' (mini league). UANL defeated Guadalajara 3–2 on aggregate to win their eighth league title. Club Puebla, formerly Puebla F.C. is a Mexican professional football club based in the city of Puebla, competing in the Liga MX. Jürgen Damm Rascón (born 7 November 1992) is a Mexican professional footballer who plays as a winger for Liga MX club América. According to a study conducted by Mexican club Pachuca, and backed by FIFA, Damm was the second fastest player in the world on 2015. He was able to reach running with the ball. Mazatlán () is a city in the Mexican state of Sinaloa. The city serves as the municipal seat for the surrounding '' municipio'', known as the Mazatlán Municipality. It is located at on the Pacific coast, across from the southernmost tip of the Baja California Peninsula. ''Mazatlán'' is a Nahuatl word meaning "place of deer". A total of twelve teams competed in the final phase to decide the champions of the Apertura 2022 Liga MX season. For the fifth straight season, an additional qualifying round, the reclassification or ''repechaje'', was employed, which expanded the number of playoff spots to twelve. Both finalists qualified for the 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup. Due to the 2022 FIFA World Cup being held in November and December, the Apertura 2022 regular season and final phase began earlier than previous seasons. As a result, the final was held on 30 October 2022 and not in the middle of December. Pachuca defeated Toluca 8–2 on aggregate to win their seventh league title. Club Santos Laguna S.A. de C.V. (), commonly known as Santos Laguna or Santos, is a Mexican professional football club that competes in the Liga MX.
