Japanese Television Drama
, also called , are television programs that are a staple of Japanese television and are broadcast daily. All major TV networks in Japan produce a variety of drama series including romance, comedy, detective stories, horror, jidaigeki, thriller, and many others. Single episode, or "tanpatsu" dramas that are usually two hours in length are also broadcast. For special occasions, there may be a one or two-episode drama with a specific theme, such as one produced in 2015 for the 70-year anniversary of the end of World War II. Japanese drama series are broadcast in three-month seasons: winter (January–March), spring (April–June), summer (July–September), and autumn or fall (October–December). Some series may start in another month though it may still be counted as a series of a specific season. The majority of dramas are aired weekdays in the evenings around 9pm through 11pm. Kyōhei Shibata (actor)
is a Japanese actor and singer. Shibata made his television debut in 1977 with " Daitokai Part II as a guest. In 1978, Shibata made his first regular appearance in the police drama ''Daitsuiseki''. Following year, he played a leading role for the first time in TV drama series ''Akai Arashi'' on TBS. In 1980, he won his first major award at the Elan d'or Awards for his role in ''Oretachi wa Tenshi da! ''. Shibata won great popularity through his role in Abunai Deka series. Ikue Sakakibara
is a Japanese actress and a J-pop singer. Biography In 1976, Sakakibara took part in the Talent Scout Caravan organised by Horipro, and won the competition. She made her musical debut on January 1, 1977, with the single ''"Watashi no Sensei"'' (My Teacher). The Japanese press dubbed Sakakibara the "100 million yen Cinderella". Sakakibara was promoted alongside Idols Mizue Takada and Yukiko Shimizu, who also debuted in 1977. They were dubbed the "Fresh San'nin Musume" (three fresh girls). Before them, Junko Sakurada, Momoe Yamaguchi and Masako Mori were promoted in the same fashion. The single ''"Natsu No Ojousan" (Summer Girl), provided Sakakibara with her biggest hit. It reached the number 11 position on the Oricon charts in the summer of 1978. That same year she was invited to appear on Kohaku Uta Gassen, and would subsequently make five more appearances on the show. is a Japanese former competitive figure skater who is the 1979 World bronze medalist and an eight-time Japanese national champion.
