Anxi County
() is a county of the prefecture-level city of Quanzhou, in southern Fujian province, People's Republic of China with 1,003,599 inhabitants ( 2020 census). It lies adjacent to and directly north of Xiamen city. Anxi is well known for a number of varieties of Oolong tea, the best-known of which is Tieguanyin (铁观音, "Iron Boddhisatva of Mercy"). Anxi Tieguanyin () is classified as one of the Top 10 Chinese Tea. In recent years, Anxi is known as the "scam town" of China, due to the considerable number of scammers originating from here in the 2023 Singapore money laundering case. Guazhou County (), formerly (until 2006) Anxi County (), is a county in the northwest of Gansu province, China. It is under the administration of Jiuquan City. History Emperor Wudi (140-87 BCE) had the Great Wall extended northwestward all the way to the Gate of Jade ( Yumen Pass), the westernmost garrison town near Dunhuang. He then set up a system of garrisons all along this part of the Great Wall and put its headquarters in a town called Anxi (“Tranquil West”) and where the northern and southern Silk Routes historically diverged." The Protectorate General to Pacify the West (Anxi Grand Protectorate), initially the Protectorate to Pacify the West (Anxi Protectorate), was a protectorate (640 – ) established by the Chinese Tang dynasty in 640 to control the Tarim Basin. The head office was first established at the prefecture of Xi, now known as Turpan, but was later shifted to Qiuci ( Kucha) and situated there for most of the period. The Four Garrisons of Anxi in Kucha, Khotan, Kashgar, and Karashahr were installed between 648 and 658 as garrisons under the western protectorate. In 659, Sogdia, Ferghana, Tashkent, Bukhara, Samarkand, Balkh, Herat, Kashmir, the Pamirs, Tokharistan, and Kabul all submitted to the protectorate under Emperor Gaozong of Tang. The Parthian Empire (), also known as the Arsacid Empire (), was a major Iranian political and cultural power centered in ancient Iran from 247 BC to 224 AD. Its latter name comes from its founder, Arsaces I, who led the Parni tribe in conquering the region of Parthia in Iran's northeast, then a satrapy (province) under Andragoras, who was rebelling against the Seleucid Empire. Kelly Lee Owens (born 24 August 1988) is a Welsh person, Welsh Electronic music, electronic musician and producer. She released her Kelly Lee Owens (album), self-titled debut album in March 2017 to critical praise. Her sophomore album, ''Inner Song'', was released in August 2020, followed by ''LP.8'' in April 2022 and ''Dreamstate'' in October 2024. Early life Owens was born on 24 August 1988 in Rhuddlan, Clwyd, on the North Wales coast. Owens recalls writing poetry as a child and that being out in nature (in her mother's fields) gave her the time and the solitude to write. As a teenager, she sang in her school choir and played bass and drums. Owens grew up in a nearby small village where, she describes, "everyone knows everyone else."
