Anthony DeLuca (Illinois Politician)
Anthony J. DeLuca (born July 25, 1970) is a member of the Illinois House of Representatives who has represented the 80th district since his appointment in March 2009 to succeed George Scully, who was appointed to the Illinois Circuit Court of Cook County. The Southland based district includes all or parts of Homewood, Flossmoor, Chicago Heights, Park Forest, South Chicago Heights, University Park, Frankfort, Manhattan and Olympia Fields, Manhattan, Frankfort, Mokena, New Lenox, Glenwood, Symerton, Illinois. Before being appointed to that position, he served as mayor of Chicago Heights, Illinois, since 2003. Some controversy was created as DeLuca is known to many to be a member of the Republican Party, whereas Scully is a Democrat. DeLuca has stated, "If I am appointed to a Democratic seat, I am a Democrat." University Park, Illinois
University Park is a village in Will County with a small portion in Cook County in the U.S. state of Illinois. It is a south suburb of Chicago. The village is one of the region's few planned communities; it was developed in the 1960s as Wood Hill, then Park Forest South, and finally University Park. Governors State University was established in the village in 1969. The village population was 7,145 at the 2020 census. History In the late 1950s, Woodhill Enterprises purchased land south of Park Forest for a large subdivision. Building began in 1961, but by 1967 Wood Hill had only 240 homes. Residents created a homeowners association, which fostered a community identity. In 1966, Nathan Manilow, one of the developers of Park Forest, started to purchase land around Wood Hill. Symerton is a village in Will County, Illinois, United States. The population was 128 at the 2020 census. By population, it is the smallest village in Will County. Geography Symerton is located at (41.328133, -88.054550). According to the 2010 census, Symerton has a total area of , all land. It is the smallest village in Will County by size and by population. It is located between Peotone and Wilmington. History Symerton was served by the Wabash Railroad. The Will County Historical Society moved the depot to Lockport, Illinois, to serve as part of the society's frontier village; however, the frontier village was evicted from its site in 2009, and the depot was placed into storage. Manhattan () is a village in Will County, Illinois. The population was 9,385 at the time of the 2020 census. The U.S. Census Bureau estimates the population to be 10,037 . The community is located in northeastern Illinois approximately southwest of Chicago. History Manhattan was incorporated in 1886. Frankfort is a village in Will County and Cook County in the U.S. state of Illinois. It is a southern suburb of Chicago, and is approximately 28 miles (45 km) south of the city. As of the 2020 census, the population was 20,296. Frankfort's historic downtown area contains the Frankfort Grainery, Breidert Green, and a portion of the Old Plank Road Trail, a 22-mile-long paved recreation trail.
